Is anyone good with astronomy?

There is this prominent star in the sky tonight (12/7) and I have seen it a week ago and it is back again. When I looked out the window there is the bright glowing one and another less brighter one near it. They are the only visible two. I am just wondering if anyone knows which star it is? I have never seen a star that glows so much and looks like it is moving almost. Not to sound childish or stupid, but it really looks like it is always twinkling and moving in some way. Not moving like a shotting star, but standing still, and twinkling I guess.

I hope its not a meteor. lol. Just kidding.

Thanks for the help if you know.

XM/Sirius satellite?

Tsar?

Knipps 12-07-2008 04:39 PM

Is it near the moon? 2 planets were visible last week.

i was looking and all i can see is ur anus! lol...

redbanditZ28 12-07-2008 06:26 PM

Okay, haha, enough with the jokes. I half-expected the one about uranus, but the deathstar was a good one.

But really, does anyone know what star I am looking at? I am guessing it isn't a planet since it is glimmering and really bright. They are the only two bright prominent stars in the sky tonight.

I wasn't talking about the pic that was posted. That looks nothing like what I am looking at. These are stars, not planets. I am not even sure you can see them anymore. I am too busy working on things to look outside. I am just saying you are all missing something interesting and beautiful if you missed it. I've never seen a star glisten like that ever.

The same reason the moon glows, the reflection of the sun

Yeah, but this was shining and looked like a ball of fire glistening. Planets and moons don't do that. This actually looked like it shimmers. I don't think it was a planet.
