NBC Cuts Top Gear USA Due To Knight Rider Failure
http://jalopnik.com/5108040/nbc-cuts...-rider-failure
'Knight Rider' to halt production early http://www.thrfeed.com/2008/12/knight-rider-pr.html BUT WAIT!!!!! Knight Rider Isn't Cancelled. Yet http://io9.com/5103505/knight-rider-isnt-cancelled-yet |
I didn't read all of the articles but what does one have to do with the other? Top Gear=teh ****. Knight Rider IS ****. Big difference.

^ agreed
wt**** nbc? |
Combine the two powers...
Jay Leno should host Top Gear USA. |

NightRider is just a crappy series and in no drastic way compares to Top gear. |
There is talk that it will now end up on SPEED. Great, more not racing shows to jam in between endless nascrap replays
|
I would love to see it on Speed. That would be a logical move.
I say NBC rethinks it, give it to Leno. Leno can then run with it. You have a big name that people love, you have an amazing show about cars, not to metion that Jay Leno owns every car known to man. How the NBC asshats cant put 2 and 2 together is beyond me. Instead, you will have the non-Tonight show with Jay leno at 10, and then the Tonight Show with Conan at 1130. NBC/GE, stop being stupid. |
SPEED is just going to bury it between nascr shows and more lame spin offs of pinks. It is dead.
|
i enjoy speed. watching super bikes right now.
|
my opinions:
1- Top Gear is fantastic as it is. If they just re-broadcast it here, it would probably do well, and they wouldn't have to worry about writing for it. 2- If NBC tried to remake the show, it will suck. I have yet to see a "remake" tv show that didn't blow big time. 3- I agree about Jay Leno taking the entire project on... he would do it justice. 4- What about moving it to Spike, into the Horsepower TV slot or whatever its called? |

I liked the way SpeedVision did it, all weekend was racing and real racing news. The filler stuff was on here and there during the week while they were showing the taped SCCA stuff and the odd racing stuff that they would throw in every once in a while. I can't tell you the last time they showed an entire DTM race, or the Aussie Touring or Super Touring Cars, or FIA Rally, or any number of other series that they have rights to. The SCCA Run Offs were 2 months ago and so far they have only shown about 10 classes of the racing that they have exclusive rights to, what are they waiting for? |
yeah i do miss watching racing....
|
The new nightrider sucks. They need the hoff back
|
knight rider fails because it doesnt have a T/A duhh.
Top gear is just an awsome show |
I love top gear. USA version might be awsome and would show more american cars.

That is my one complaint about top gear. The compare a $75k Z06 to a $125K Ferrari and talked about how much less refined the Corvette is. Well no ****, for $50k I could figure out how to fit more features into a car too. Like the replay they showed today pitting a base Mustang GT against a Lotus Exige that costs $16k more sticker. Guess what, the Lotus was quicker.....duh! The Lotus was not loaded up with luxury features and magically they failed to bring up the number of standard luxury feature things this time. |

UK Top Gear IS aired here. BBC America. It's not going to be shown on any other channel any time soon.

WRC has slacked big time getting schedules and TV contracts together in time, which is why there has been very little rally coverage lately.
- Justin |
All Speed ever hosted of WRC was basically a daily highlight show. It's not like they came in live from any rally. They just used host footage and slapped together an hour of racing out of the 6-8 hours of daily stages.

:shrugs:
I got that info many months ago from a WRC press release about the lack of TV coverage. - Justin |
