LS1 in LTX body..questions..

Hey guys im picking up a 94 LSX swapped z28 tommorow after work...engines stock, has a k&N LT1 style CAI, catted mid tubes(w/ all air hook ups,no air pump), and a stock ls1 catback..It has a possible header leak along w/ the driver side window motor dead...Is any of that gonna keep me from passing the inspection...Im going to make an appt. w/ Josh next week to give it a once over and take care of the header leak but im just curious what the window motors going to run me

window motors are cheap. i got mine on ebay. nice lookin car!

LTb1ow 12-17-2008 05:49 PM

fugly wheels. And god good, have fun with all that room....

sweetbmxrider 12-17-2008 06:04 PM

i think you need documentation for the engine swap. good luck. if they are stupid or you go private, might sneak under the radar. wasn't their issues with this car? i remember my buddy looking at it on craigslist.

LTb1ow 12-17-2008 06:05 PM

I wouldn't imagine him having any problems. Pre 96 gets a sniff test, if anything it should have less emissions.

sweetbmxrider 12-17-2008 06:11 PM

oh no i agree, but the state of new jersey is a bitch like that. just saying if you get a prick, you won't walk out with a smile!

LTb1ow 12-17-2008 06:12 PM

I guess, but then you assume the inspector knows what he is looking for.

sweetbmxrider 12-17-2008 06:43 PM

ha, well the belt routing diagram and vacuum diagram on the radiator kinda give it up. we are talking state employees though

LTb1ow 12-17-2008 06:45 PM

Ohhh, I have never had the hood popped. Just drive in, brake, forget its a RWD car and schreech away...

sweetbmxrider 12-17-2008 06:48 PM

haha well like i said it depends on the person and such.

MonmouthCtyAntz 12-17-2008 07:28 PM

No known issues, the trans was recently rebuilt maybe thats what your talking about. The wheels on the car now are firebird 16 in. but they wont be on long. Future brother in law is doing the inspection at his goodyear.

The window motor would normally fail you, but if you have family doing it, then you should be fine.

That's a pretty good looking swap. Good luck with it.

sweetbmxrider 12-17-2008 11:24 PM

good stuff. i thought something was incomplete about the car. it is a sneaky swap though.

Yea I never really used it much in any of my fbods anyway..supposedly it kills like 10 hp  . Its only going to be a nice weather/weekend cruiser anyway, dont need it for daily duty.

it does kill some hp, but the significant part is taking the weight off the nose

Autozone sells the window motor with a life time guarantee.

http://www.autozone.com/R,133350/veh...ductDetail.htm

Here's a link that details the process.

http://shbox.com/page/windowmotor.html

Fairly easy, just need to be careful not to break the plastic clips on the door. And the window switch cluster can be a PITA to get off/on. Putting in the motor itself is easy.

Yea a buddy and I at work just looked over the directions, doesnt look to hard at all...Well pull it in the warehouse and tackle that early next week.

Window motor swap is easy, Ive done 4 of them. Ebay motors work great for $20 but the autozone warranty is appealing (Ebay motors are slow in cold weather). That write up is pretty good, I wish I had it my first time around. First time install took me an hour with no instructions, so expect about 40 min.

To add to the write up:
1. Remove your front speaker. The install is so much easier when you can reach up from that angle.
2. When you bore a hole into the side panel to get to the rivets, wear gloves. The door panel is a fiber composite; shards of it can get stuck in your skin and they are itchy, also bad to breathe in.

Goodluck with the install, and congrats on an LS1
