What kinda weight am I saving w/ no ac?
Tried to search on tech looks like around 20 pds?...Car shouldnt weigh much being a hardtop,no ac,no spare jack?
|
If you remove the entire air conditioning system it(brackets, condenser, AC box from firewall, wiring....) it adds up to over 40lbs. 20lbs would most likely be just the easy to get to stuff under the hood like the compressor, condenser, and lines.

Yea I bought the car w/ everything gone...thats great ! Thx.

Yea not a huge drag racer but i never really used it in any of my fbodies because of the little bit of power it robs.

when i took my a/c out it came out to 34lbs under the hood. that was the easy stuff to remove
compressor, lines, condensor, evaporator, belt, bolts. i left that other thing thats stuffed inside the firewall alone spare tire and jack was 35-40lbs if my memory serves me correctly sway bar with brackets and bolts was a shade over 15lbs air pump is like 7-8lbs egr is a lb or 2 front pass seat without power anything is 34lbs rear seats w/ seatbelts was 25lbs console with crap in it is 9-10lbs |
Good info... ill be curious to see what she weighs in the spring when I hit the track.

I pulled the A/C out of my LT1 when I did my cam swap during winter, First hot/humid day, I put it right back in. Screw weight, I liked comfort.

I don't use my AC unless the windows fog up so if your car is your daily driver you may want to consider keeping it for that reason.
