New LT1 sound effects

okay since I've owned my car it always made a tapping sound at idle nothing too bad, but just recently it started making new noises... when I accelerate I get a really bad tapping noise with a combined whirly-type sound, that goes away once i come to a cruising speed. It's really bad around the 1500k-2500k rpm range under acceleration. It's LOUD too, on Saturday when it was warm, I was cruising around with the windows down and it overpowered the exhaust. The strange thing is that it goes away after a couple hard pulls, (I know that can't be a good solution) and the tapping sound at idle now is very very loud too. This is getting frustrating, I can't seem to mod my car because I spend all my money fixing it. Does anyone have any idea whats wrong with it, and what I'm looking at cost wise to fix it? (by a mechanic because I don't have the know-how to do it myself.)

Sounds similar to my cars problem.. We think its a lifter...were gonna tear into it tommorow. Oil Pressure normal? couldnt give u a labor cost because u dont know what it is...but if the heads need to be pulled it could be costly, especially w/ a Lt1

Yeah, what does your oil pressure look like? How fast is the tapping?

Rod knock at worst. Can you feel if its pulling timing? I know dumb but still...

Check your valvetrain although if its stock and you haven't collapsed a lifter it shouldn't be a problem.

Other than that, look for loose things on the engine. My alternator has since lost its stock mounting and it occasionally works itself loose and rattles like hell.

yea it could be something as simple as a part being loose

timing seems normal, it hasn't lost any power at all. Oil pressure is the same as always, hopefully its just stuff rattling apart, wouldn't be a first for my car.
