Meziere Electric Pump

Anyone running an electric water pump (street version) on an LS1? They claim gains of 11-14, but does anyone have or know the real results? Also, would running an underdrive pulley with the pump result in charging issues?

try a search on tech, theres a billion posts on it

Your gonna get one? Funn times ahead.....

And how much do they draw? Just do the math.....

KirkEvil 02-03-2009 11:26 AM

Searching the tech, gains seem to be anywhere from 6-11 hp and basically equal tq. However, everyone that has posted proven gains does not run an underdrive pulley in addition to the pump.

And yes I picked one up, draws 6 amps from what Ive read.

On startup? I would assume your new alternator should handle that no prob.

KirkEvil 02-03-2009 11:41 AM

It should...but nothing really ends up working how its supposed to. with the addition of the pulley, and being that the car is an auto and the battery dislikes cold weather, and I still need a tune from everything else, it may not go over well.

Looking for some personal experience with the ewp/pulley setup.

It will be fine. Everybody that lists "full bolt ons" in their mods has both pulley and EWP. I have never read about anyone having any issues using the two together.

I've had my EWP on my LT1 for almost 4 years now, and asides from a sloppy wiring install its ran flawlessly and keeps the temps exactly where I want them.

How do you know that lol?

sweetbmxrider 02-03-2009 02:54 PM

ya seriously full bolt ons doesn't have a true definition. if you do run into problems, you could change your crank pulley to equate for any loss charging. could invest in a jump box or triple a too

NJSPEEDER 02-03-2009 05:00 PM

Just look at the listed mods of the guys on the bolt on ET list on Tech as well as the rest of the forum. It may not be an official thing, but it is still clear what is considered full bolt ons.

I also know several people that have had pulley and EWP together and none of them have ever had an issue.

LTb1ow 02-03-2009 05:03 PM

I think the problem he is worried about is how that combo will affect the car if it is not driven every day of the week....

Thanks for the input and the offer. However, Im a do it yourself kind of person, and I cant justify a tune until I install a TC and need one.

Let me know how it went... thinking about doing one.
