Grand Cher SRT-8. Any good?

Anyone familiar with the SRT8? How do they compare to the trailbalzer SS as far as being dependable. Such as, the SS is somewhat known for trans and rear problems. Are the STR8's the same.

Guy at work is looking at one, and I really don't know much about them.

I've heard some talk on Jeepforum of trans / driveline issues, but there aren't many people with them there, so it's not much of a sample.

Jeep Cherokee's have always had crappy trans. Almost every person I knew that owned one had some issues w/ them. There own mechanics will even tell you that. As fot the srt8, thats a mean looking truck, and unlike the TB SS not everyone and there mother has one.

only about 3-4 other ss's in my area, but i see 6 or 7 srt8's on a regular basis.....that all depends on where you live

John, have the guy check out www.wkjeeps.com for some good basic info about the SRTs

Eh....there have been 8 different transmissions installed in GCs over the years. Only a few are prone to problems, like the 46RH behind the early GCs with the 5.2.

Especially when the transfer case requires 1.9 qts of fluid drained / added every 30k miles (15k if you romp on it), and the fluid for it is about $50 / quart.

Sorry there, sunshine.

He's not going to get it. DANG! 2007 and it was 34G's!

Last week my future son-in-law picked up a 06-07 GC Laredo that is loaded with 30K on it for just about 1/2 that price!
