bogging down

on the 98TA, i tried to power brake it, it revved up a lil, then bogged down and did nothing, i let off and it idled rough, but then drove fine.... obviously i had the traction control switched off, but it felt and acted as tho it was still on. i have no idea wat to start looking at, ive never had a car with traction control.... stupid new cars and all there safety features... any idea?

i unplugged the traction control under the hood, no change. i put my foot to the floor and nothing happens, engine stays bogged down...... anyone??

Does this only happen when you try to powerbrake it, or anytime you get on the gas hard from a stop / low speed?

fuel filter? spark plugs?

maroman88 02-21-2009 07:31 PM

i cant seem to get a set instance for it, weird. i got it to do a power break when the car was cool the other day, drove around the block and tried it again and midway thru the power break it just bogged down and wouldnt do it again. also itll bog down off the line randomly but once u get up in the RPMs itll be fine

for real? im guna get it tuned after i get the gears installed anyway.

the car is throwing no codes and has no codes in the history

LTb1ow 02-22-2009 10:16 AM

Yea, its not a code, its to protect the tranny from you driving like that.

"Stall wall" is when it wont shift into the next gear, it just bounces off the rev limiter due to the stall. It should have nothing to do with the boging down issue he is having.

LTb1ow 02-22-2009 10:55 AM

Really?
I thought it was if you tried to power brake it.

Edit: Yea my bad, its more a problem when you have an aftermarket stall.

The torque management system might have something to do with it. I would take it and get it tuned. Most, if not all, tuners take torque management out of the cars because it bogs the car on purpose to save the 4L60E. I may be wrong because I don't have an auto, but it sounds like it might be the torque management system.

could be some torque managment? if i do floor it, itll bog way down but once the RPM's rise it takes off like all hell

torque management wouldn't make the car idle like **** so it most likely isn't that. I didn't catch that the first time I read your op.

seems to be doing it more often now... got the new gears in and a tuned PCMforless computer.
its getting really annoying when driving... if im cruising at say 35mph and give it some gas it boggs, give it more gas and then it almost feels like its downshifting HARD and it takes off like crazy and will get the rear to kick out lol... still having the same issue when tryin to warm up the tires.... thats not guna be good and i wanna get to the track!!

checked the trans fluid... its full
unplugged the traction control under the hood...
fixed the idle problem, it runs smooth as can be and revs freely in neutral/park
