Anyone know where I can get an AR-15?
Does anyone have a LEGAL AR-15 that they would like to sell, or know of any in stock in North Jersey?
I already have my firearms purchase permit, I just need to find a place that has them in stock, or find someone that has one and wants to sell it. A local gun store will do the transfer paperwork, so that isn't an issue. |
mmm..
I may be *completely* wrong but I don't think you can get a legal AR-15, only AR-15 "styled" |

1) A folding or telescoping stock 2) A bayonet mount 3) A flash suppressor or threaded barrel designed to accommodate a flash suppressor 4) A grenade launcher. |
I don't think it's allowed to actually say AR-15 anywhere... that's another issue.

i goto gun shops all around north jersey all the time, im not sure anyone has one in stock but i will ask around to see if they can order it..
|
I went to/called several last night.. everyone has them on order. I was just curious if anyone knew where I could get one sooner than 3-4 months.
|
what stores did you call?
|
Be ready to pay a small fortune, everything's shot up in price since the November for some reason
|
With the run on those style rifles alot of them are on back order for as much as 45 weeks. Ive been waiting for one for about 4 months now.

Look up SARCO if you didn't already.
|
you can build one yourself. the only thing that you have to register is the lower receiver. the rest you can buy online, surplus, or anywhere. some places, like cheaperthendirt or sportmans guide sell entire ar-15 kits, fully complete from stock to barrel, minus the lower receiver.
|
yeah, i know i can build one myself, but that will take longer than just going out and buying one, and i'm impatient... :)

ETA: You can NOT have: 1.) threaded barrel, it must be a full crown or a pinned muzzle break 2.) bayonet lug 3.) folding or telescoping stock 4.) flash suppressor HAS TO BE FULL CROWN OR MUZZLE BREAK!!!! Because of the fact that the rifle A.) is semi-auto and B.) has a conspicuous pistol grip that protrudes below the stock and C.) accepts detachable mags, ANY SINGLE OTHER "evil" feature makes it an assault weapon. In NJ, semi-auto rifles are allowed to have 2 "evil" features before being considered "assault weapons". The pistol grip is 1, and the ability to accept a mag over 15 rounds (anything that accepts a detachable mag) is 2. You cannot own any mag in the state of NJ with over a 15 round capacity. Mags for ARs are as follows 10, 20, 30, 40, 100. The 20 and 30 rounders you can get USGI surplus for 10-15 bux, the 40 rounders are usually new for 20, and the 10 rounders are like 30$. They know to stay legal people HAVE to buy them so they charge high prices for them. Arms-N-Ammo.com sell custom made polymer mags for the ARs for 19.99 (last i checked) and they are 15 round mags. Really high quality, and the best price for NJ legal. Sorry I couldn't find any better pictures, but here's me with mine, freezing waiting for my turn to go whack some zeds. http://i31.photobucket.com/albums/c3...e_DSC_2279.jpg here is me actually sending the undead back to hell http://i31.photobucket.com/albums/c3...e_DSC_2287.jpg |

Ian i think he is referring to complete rifles, if you already have a lower and are looking for an upper you should be just fine. Though if all you have is a bare lower and need a parts kit your kinda SOL there too. I was thinking about picking up a few Double Star lowers and parts kits and building them just to keep as an investment but the price on them went from 95ea for 3 or more up to like 150 a piece, so not doing that now. |
last post before work, I SWEAR, lol.
try this place: http://www.cheyennemtnoutfitters.com/contact.html it's not NNJ it's central, about 3 minutes from my house here in the hamilton/trenton area. They used to stock all different types of AR style rifles when they were combined with Harry's Army Navy. Bought most of my accessories there, friend of mine got a real good deal on a flattop M4gery S&W M&P-15 from them. I'd say give a call and if they have what you are looking for in stock and for a price that's ok to you, bite the bullet take a ride and get it. Otherwise you may be stuck waiting around for a long time. It would probably be best to figure out what kinda AR you want, M4gery(14.5 pinned to 16 or 16 with fixed collapsable stock), govt profile(20" with full buttstock), flattop(no carry handle more options for sights), varminter(accurized with 20-26" barrel for hunting varmints), predator(accurized with 24-26" barrel many times stainless, for hunting coyotes and other feral predators), etc. |
Well, after calling like 50 places, I lucked into one. :) it is a Bushmaster with a 2X Red Dot Aimpoint sight, and Quad rail had guards. Also picked up a Taurus .357 Magnum for the wife.. :)
