Knock sensors

I have a 1998 ls1 i am putting an ls6 intake on. What would be the right upgrage part when i change the knock sensors? Do you put ls6 knock sensors in? Can i just get sensors from gm or is there a sponser who sells them?

NJSPEEDER 03-02-2009 05:40 PM

is there a problem with your knock sensors?

ChevyHank 03-03-2009 09:32 AM

Not that i am aware off. I remember a while back guys changing the to a less sensitve knock sensor. Just wanted to make sure it was fine before i swap over

No need to worry about it. If you want to desenitise the sensors, that can be done as a part of programming later. Save the money for a Ported TB or some other useful goodies :)

your thinking of lt1s i think, i have never heard of problems with ls1 knock sensors, but the lt4 sensor seems to be a common mod for lt1 guys

Nope, the sensor between LT1/LT4 is the same, the knock module is different cause you cannot de-tune the computer. To an extent.

He has an LS1, much different computer.

Changing knock sensors is an old idea. There were many variations of using GN/Corvette/HD Truck and whatever other differently rated knock sensors. With the LS gen computers it isn't much of a tuning tool since the computers have so many more tunable fields.
