head question

im looking at getting a replacement set of heads for my z to get ported. is there a differance between the 241s and 853s? i have the 241s on my car right now. i dont want to waste my money on 853s and porting them if i can get more power out of ported 241s

when they're ported, they make the same power. If you want budget heads, just go with 243's from the z06. If you go for 243's make sure they are off of a corvette and not a gto or cts-v because the vette 243's will have lighter valve stems for better performance.

Do you have a cam in or going in at the same time? Without more cam, having more head won't give you enough of a gain to justify the expense and effort.

i didnt really want to swap the cam right now just thinking of little things i can do to squeeze a little more out of her since im going to be changing the intake manifolds and putting long tubes on it in the near future.

Man, seems like if you're willing to pull the heads doing a cam at the same time is a no brainer.

well im not looking for anything major. mainly just going to be a crusing car. ill take her to the track every now and again but not all the time. would it be good enough just to do the stock z06 243 heads and cam?

if your taking the time to do a cam, the ls6 cam is a waste of time

At least do a 224 cam if your in there...

I just did a cam in my 98 with stock heads and all... and I made real good power and couldnt be happier.
