SLP cracks me up

I inquired about a dyno tune just for the heck of it (im bored at work lol) and to see if they would meet or beat a competitor...He referred me to there "dyno guy" and he said that bolt ons tunes start at 425.00 (would probably be more according to him because I run a 98 pcm). When I told him that was high he said yea those other places you get what you pay for. He said they take the whole day to tune the car as opposed to a few pulls lol. He wasnt sure what to say when i told him those places (ttp, etc) are proven time and time again. This is what he wrote me back in responce lol

Quote:

Dyno Tunes start at $425. These are done in our state of the art facility and performed by our Chief Engineer. This is the same dyno that many of the NY/NJ/PA based magazines use for testing.
So i told him Ill stick to the "ghetto facilities" for a few hundred less that also do the NY/NJ/PA mag testing lol. I think SLP is there own biggest fan.

WildBillyT 03-11-2009 10:16 AM

Huh. See, I wouldn't think $425 for an entire day of tuning is that bad... given that they actually are tuning the whole day.

Yea thats the starting price, but you know SLP. As soon as you get there im sure they'll be a few surprises...

If you are going to put a lot of money into your vehicle, why cheap out on a tune. A tune can make or break your cars performance. I am not saying you will get a better tune from SLP because they charge more, but it is true, you get what you pay for.

they were ******** to me last time i tried to deal with them. i had the impression that i could walk in and order parts, and the guy gave me an attitude saying you have to order them online or over the phone, he was very arrogant and snooty towards me. ill never buy anything from them.

baddest434 03-11-2009 03:44 PM

i don't care for SLP myself. only good thing i can say about them is they had a customer appreciation day once and i got to race for free.

The place looks nothing like a speed shop from the outside....definately not your usually type of shop. Though they have always been like this, as far back as i could remember. My aunt worked for them when I was in HS

sweetbmxrider 04-16-2009 06:18 PM

this thread should be closed as SLP is not a sponsor and yada yada :moon:

MattysTA 04-20-2009 05:31 PM

when i used to buy stuff there for my old lt1 car they would make me wait like 30-45 minutes for it. and one of those times all i wanted was a friggin trans mount!. i liked their mount tho cause it was stiffer than stock but not as stiff as poly. after the last trip there i had enough. havent been back since...
