It runs and thus the "BubbaMobile" count down begins. The car officially only has a few weeks to live. bahahahah

j/k.......... well............sorta :moon:

Good luck with it. Let us know when you are gonna hit the track. I will try to make it down to see.

bubba428 03-12-2009 08:58 PM

well I got time to crawl under and take a look at the rear, and its a 7.5. thats going to be an issue come track time. I'm going to have to drop a good amount of coin in transmission and rear parts. 800-900 for a B&M TH400, 2500 for the Moser rear I want, then I need a custom length DS and big sticky tires...I'll probably run it on the 10 bolt with street tires after I get the trans, baby'n the 60'

i breath life into dead cars only to kill them yet again

hey I made it 3 months without failure on the cavi  I haven't modded anything but the head unit...

NJSPEEDER 03-12-2009 11:11 PM

Please don't put a B&M trans in your car. Talk to a shop and have one built. Spend the extra money on a quality piece from a shop with a reputation for performance.

Mike 03-12-2009 11:15 PM

as long as you post when you go to the track, so no one has to sit while they clean up 10 bolt pieces :).........do it once do it right, wait till you can get the good **** before you beat on it

bubba428 03-13-2009 06:27 AM

haven put the gun on it yetneed to change that milky brown oil and finish the cooling system...I just wanted it to run for 30s so I know the wreck didn't break the crank

So youre making enough power to break the 10 bolt on street tires? What kind of gears are in it?

I'm just giving you the heads up man...that 10 bolt will probably take a couple good launches as in on a sticky tire, expecially since you have an automatic. As proof to my story...Ron, AKA the Hammer of Thor, has cut pretty disgusting 60' s with a stick shift car through a 10 bolt on sticky tires, a few times.

Also, instead of a moser rear, a cheaper option would be to comb the junkyards or talk to people on the internet about getting hold of a GN rear. 8.5" 10-bolt that will hold a lot more power than what youre making.

yes haha I have seen the hammer in action. I should be in the high 400s for torque, can't really brag till I actually hit the dyno. only thing that blows is i'm 90% sure its got some stupid mid 2.xx ratio gears

If that's the case then the gearset may hold up to more abuse.

bubba428 03-13-2009 09:45 AM

yea but its going to butt rape my track times, without lube. although a 3rd gear burnout would roll a TON of smoke. hmmmm I guess i'll just do this other idea I had  don't ask

3rd gear showboating burnouts ftw lol. i think that rear will hold up for a while since ur auto. will u have a different converter in it?

haha i used to love letting her hit 3rd in the burnout box  then run a 14  o the looks of "wtf?"

bubba428 03-14-2009 04:01 PM

Ok guy, I just took the old heads of and what I saw.........jesus, it makes me really disapointed. I mean, the head gasket was leaking compression on all 8, had 3 oil leaks, both heads were cracked, 1.84/1.50 valves were wasted chiped and one was even stuck open a tad. that motor was just in shambles. BUT the light at the end of the tunnel its got flat top speedpro pistons in it .060 lookin at about 9.5:1 CR the way it was. with the new 58CC heads and goodies I'm lookin at 11:1 cr and 2.02/1.60 manley race valves.

Mike 03-14-2009 04:04 PM

wait......it broke already? or you didnt change heads yet and it wasnt running when you made this post?

bubba428 03-14-2009 04:31 PM

NO NO NO i haven't done the heads, jeeze this ain't a wayfast car. I took the stock 624 heads off to inspect the block further and instal the worked up 416 heads. thats the way it was in the T/A. I can't wait to get it running right
