Steering rack binding?

My car is a 2002 Z28, I havent drove it in about 5 months, I drove it around today and the steering is really stiff, would a rack bind up from sitting so long? Fluid looks ok and its at the proper level.

Did it improve as it warmed up and got driven? When GM racks go they often bind cold then gradually improve.

Is there a rather common remedy besides replacing the rack?
