got camarowned again today
go out to start my car to go to the gym and it DOESNT start again. wtf. everything connected to the battery works perfect....electric fans, electric fuel pump, guage lights, and just got it recharged just last week. tried a jump, doesnt even crank.
cables are definately connected to the battery right. any help to the next step would be appreciated. thanks Jon |
You may have enough voltage to run the accessories but not to start the car. Is it a manual trans?
|
yeah manual trans.
ever hear of a neutral safety switch? friend was telling me about one connected to the clutch. |
not sure if you got a new battery or not, but if you didnt, i would get one.
|
could be that aswell
|
Yeah. It kills voltage to the starter if your trans is not in neutral.
Try push starting it. Then let it run for a while to allow the alternator to charge the battery. Then shut it off, and try to key-start it. If it starts, then get your starter tested. If it doesnt, get your battery checked out, and you will probably have to replace it. |

my buddy is coming over in a little to help me find the problem..i dont have a test light cant figure out if its that wire.. |
arrite will do bill thanks for the help again haha
|
check the nutral safety switch it can be it or the starter solinoid
|
is it doing anything when you turn the key besides powering the accessories?
|
nah adam it was just silent. i figured out what the problem was...there is a metal part that wraps around the battery that connects the wire to the battery...i fixed that last week so i eliminated that problem first thing. turns out it came loose again and the metal melted...yeah...i dont know either...so my buddy wiggled it around and it fired right up.
but if it was loose i still dont know how it was powering the fans and stuff... maybe my car is haunted? thanks for the help everyone |
