ah the good old mod motor blowing out spark plugs...you dont have to change the heads, they make a repair kit for them...not sure how hard it is to get at the spark plug hole though. if you cant just repair it, TTP would do it im sure

Heli-coil it

i like the 5.0 engines they are easier to work on and less defects and you can swap heads in your own driveway

When it happened to me, all I did was heli coiled the head and replaced the spark plug and the coil pack and it was perfect. Too bad that didn't work for your bro cuz it was such an easy fix on the lightning.

NastyEllEssWon 03-18-2009 07:03 PM

yeah im well aware of these types of problems. i used to work for ford. this is a very very very common occurance.

The earlier heads had 3 to 4 threads per spark plug, whereas the 03 and 04s had 8 to 9 so if ur gonna get new heads you should upgrade

the pi heads started going on the 4.6 cars in either 99 or 2000, so his 2000 should have them. but i want to say they started with the body changeover (used to have a 4.6 mustang myself so i looked into it a while ago)

that is correct when they changed the body in '99 is when they got pi heads and intake
