In search of the right pistons
Im not looking to spend a ridiculous amount but I want forged. 383 pistons for 5.7 rods.
I found these brand new for 300 shipped KB9926 Their forged keith black pistons and will have low compression with my 72cc heads maybe low enough for some type of charging to come in the future. What do you guys think? I really dont want to spend more than 400 bucks on a set and they have to be forged and low compression, those a good set or what? |
Seems ok, but I wouldn't build a motor "planning to add a power adder" later.

Care to explain why?

My brother knows more than I do about this but I run KB pistons in my engine and have never had any issues. The last set went 500 passes with no issues. I only replaced them because we wanted to freshen the engine.

For 200 or so more, you can get a forged Mahle power pak with rings.

SRP makes a nice piston for the price...

Why low CR and why 5.7 rods?
Bushed or pinned rods? I thought you had everything planned out? Flat top, invert, dome? |
I wanted low compression for a future turbo charger setup.
You mean bushed or pressed rods? Their bushed and the pistons will be free floating with wrist pins. If I go low compression which im starting to think differently I would go flat top. Thinking about it even if I want to turbo it one day it would be a weekend tops to take the motor out and replace it with low compression pistons when im ready, so it might be better to get the most power out of it now. hmmm |
For a higher compression build im thinking
