NJ346 03-22-2009 11:29 AM

ehh. Al is letting us down. I expected it to be a little higher.

BigAls87Z28 03-22-2009 11:34 AM

I wonder if that is the auto or manual?

says manual...that's why I'm a little disappointed.

BigAls87Z28 03-22-2009 11:49 AM

Meh. Brand new, cant have THAT many miles on it.
Factor in additional rotational mass of teh 20 inch wheels with 275 wide tires, 14.4/4pistion brakes that the GXP doesnt have...only a few ponies off the GXP.

KirkEvil 03-22-2009 02:14 PM

364/371, I expected more out of the 6 speed. Still not bad guessing at all the emissions crap they probably choked it with.

Blackbirdws6 03-22-2009 02:54 PM

The GXP put down some so so numbers until it was broken in with a few thousand miles on it. They saw roughly a 20RWHP increase from brand new to broken-in.

NJSPEEDER 03-22-2009 04:08 PM

It's too damn quiet!!!

Nice number for stock. With the mags testing them easily at 13.0 not broken in and this kind of dyno number while it is still fresh, I am saying it will be a month or less before someone is posting a video of a dead stock 12.7 run.

BigAls87Z28 03-22-2009 04:22 PM

Yeah, that vid has it quiet, but the videos I saw of them test driving it, its deffinatly louder then that.

Iroc-z86 03-22-2009 04:39 PM

 its over 300 hp for me so thats already an A in my book. I would have to agree, sounds louder in other vids...nice car still....and im still signing my life away after i pay off my student loans for one.

MonmouthCtyAntz 03-22-2009 04:40 PM

Thats honestly not much better then the LS2 GTO's stock numbers....Ill keep my $3,000 LS1

You saw the price tag on the car right? what do you want from em?

DevilDougWS6 03-25-2009 10:31 PM

It probably isnt even worn in yet. I bet itll make or close to 400rwhp once totally broken in. GM has a way of doing that with their performance cars

Yea the cars probably not broking in...Should be good for higher 12's w/ a decent driver...I just think Chevy should have brought more to the table after 7-8 years w/ no Fbod. Unfortunately w/ the heavier weight it doesnt look like its going to be much faster then the Ls1.

BigAls87Z28 03-27-2009 12:16 AM

Well...ify ou want to compare apples to apples, MT pulled mid 13's @ 105-8mph from LS1 cars.
This car has run 12.95 to 13.0 at 111-113mph...not broken in.

I will again make the claim that within 6 months, with minor bolt ons, we will see an 11 sec 5th gen.

thats a given with some of the people that float around the lsx forums and the money that burns their pockets. put it this way. a lot of 01-02 ss/ws6's were pulling 12.9s with a six speed and a good driver. the new camaro is a big waste of time for gm. especially without a z28 in the lineup. HOW THE HELL CAN YOU NOT HAVE A Z28!

BigAls87Z28 03-27-2009 09:29 PM

When money is no object, its easy
When you are taking out every other light bulb, removing waste baskets, and laying off thousdands of people ontop of taking billions of dollars in goverment loans, dropping off a car like the Z28 looks a bit pompus...
