Doing some work to the LS1 Z
So HUGE HUGE HUGE weekend! Basically I found another Z that was cleaner so in goes my swap. I basically need to get suspension and motor in and it heads to paint. While the motor is out I want to install a FAST 92, contact me if you have a lead on one and also a UD pulley. Any other ideas while the motor is out?
Here are a few pics of my long weekend! Looks like the 70s....:) http://evilz.smugmug.com/photos/496859017_JQ462-L.jpg Swapping rear ends: http://evilz.smugmug.com/photos/496865158_ZTMjw-L.jpg New home for v8: http://evilz.smugmug.com/photos/496856713_gauP2-L.jpg LS1: http://evilz.smugmug.com/photos/496857623_resXF-L.jpg Myself n Joe: http://evilz.smugmug.com/photos/496858180_7rYhT-L.jpg Plans are to take a break for a day or two. Order a few more parts and maybe get the motor in by mid next week. I am going to pull the intake and TB off and sell them if anyone is looking for a ls6 intake and port n polished TB. New set of plugs needs to go in and do the UD pulley and new belt. Here are some more pics: Sunday Night: http://evilz.smugmug.com/photos/497017449_7TXfP-L.jpg Almost done breaking her down: http://evilz.smugmug.com/photos/497017239_Bv7H2-L.jpg Word to the wise....when pulling the LSx out of Zs like it is a F-body....headers and coil packs should be removed. I didn't do this at first and it slowed me up big time. Looks cool though right? =): http://evilz.smugmug.com/photos/497017553_4hbuD-L.jpg |

Just a quick question...
About 4 or 5 months ago did a guy in a dark blue jeep pull up next to you in westwood on the corner of Kinderkermack and oldhook road and ask you "whats in that!? I used to have a 260Z!" If so that was my pops! :D He came straight home and told me about it! If thats you what a small world! :D |
Looks sharp. Can't wait to see the car when it is done.
|
still up in the air on the fast paint... would paint it all black and highlight the letters in orange or something.

Ok after d*cking around last weekend and not doing a damn thing. I am happy to report that:
It is back in!! http://evilz.smugmug.com/photos/506385176_PhcaT-L.jpg Trans back in! http://evilz.smugmug.com/photos/506385974_Z6AXW-L.jpg But, now the gear stick doesn't come up in the same position as the later s30s http://evilz.smugmug.com/photos/506385515_UdQB6-L.jpg http://evilz.smugmug.com/photos/506385333_KG6jt-L.jpg Off to a good home! http://evilz.smugmug.com/photos/506384950_XTnQK-L.jpg So I tried getting the pulley off and no luck...so I have to use a puller during the week. Also I need to change the intake this week and finish the brake lines. I am going to have to run a new rear line so I can plumb in the wilwood prop valve in. I am sure I will find a few more while I am at it deals but at least the motor is back in! |
so sweet!

Today I was able to play around with the idea of cutting out the old flares and seeing how the zg flares would look against the new wheels. First, fiberglass sucks to cut out (dust) and there were a million pop rivets in this thing....wasted time taking the front flares out because in the end...I will have to use old fenders to cut the right amount of metal out. As for the rears....the old flares were put on very nicely but now for the zg flares, way to much material was taken out. Just means more time has to be spend on the rear of the car.

Also didn't want the CF ZGs to go to waste. Next step is to figure where I am going to mount the flares and start trying to build back the sheet metal. I might have to get two patch panels for the dog legs so they can be metal and not fiberglass/bondo. |
