Update on taping noise!
Well my gf's friend tore into the car and the rockers and lifters look straight. Then we got into the discussion of oil...funny but the sound started a few days after i did the pennzoil plat. change. Hes a amsoil dealer so were gonna do an oil change w/ that along w/ a amsoil filter and see whats what...He said that the major oil dealers sometimes thin the oil out too much for the synthetics and that might be the reason its happening. If this fixes the problem Ill swear by amsoil forever ...wish me luck.

For almost 11 dollars a quart this amsoil race oil better fix it :|

what weight oil were you using and what are you going to be putting in it? is it only tapping when cold?
|
Did you dissemble the lifters?
Or did you just eyeball them? |
if the tap goes away after a while and comes back, it could be a lifter. if its constant and doesnt go away, it could be a bent pushrod

You need to pull the heads to get the lifters off of an ls1 |

Cant remember the exact weight we changed it with...damn beer :-x He eyeball'd them , but the kid is good....and it starts when the car is warm and it eventually goes away after awhile...I honestly havent had much seat time in it. Just my play car .. well see what happens...torque I have a 100 beans towards your intake

you cannot eyeball a bad lifter unless it catastrophically failed. I had a lifter go bad 3 weeks ago, and after pulling them all they look perfect. I could not even compress the bad lifter by hand.
What weight oil did you have in before the change? |
