88 Dodge Ramcharger

Picked this up off a local Fire Dept for rather cheap. Was told it was a 318, but checked last night, I am 99% sure its a 360. 56k original miles, just sat for the past 6 years. Unfortunately it developed a knock in the bottom end, and is the reason for them selling it, but should be an easy fix/swap.

Since the motor is carbed, the plans are just a rebuild on the bottom end, or find another 360, a mopar purple cam, aluminum intake manifold, Holley carb, headers, etc. Will be the new Daily Driver for a while, and eventually be lifted and used for wheeling. I mainly bought it so I can take the Ram off the road for a little while, and go over that since its really climbing fast on the miles.

sweet find.

are those spinner hubcaps on the trailer?!

bad64chevelle 04-24-2009 07:13 PM

 no they are not, they are some garbage ones that came on the trailer when we got it. The trailer needs work, so I have been waiting to get rid of those until then.

I rode by that Ram for months on 528, I was gonna stop few times but every time I was, the words "Lean Burn" came to mind. If ya dont mind saying, how much did ya end up picking it up for? I love old R/C, good luck with it.

bad64chevelle 04-25-2009 06:13 PM

You come out this way much? I live ~ 5 mins from there. I picked it up for $300.

I think for now he wants to get it running right, then use it as a DD while he takes the Ram off the road and goes over that, since the mileage is pretty high on the Ram. Afterwards, I think he intends to lift the Ramcharger and make that the woods truck.

For the time being, tossing a motor in it and daily driving it while the Ram gets fixed up. The Ram needs a freeze plugs in the back of the block between the block and trans, so if I am going to pull the motor, I want to redo that, the trans, all the brakes, more lift and more tire are possibly. Once that is done, I will use the Ramcharger for off-roading and on the beach.

So someone liked "the James" so much they had to go out and get something just like it huh. Hopefully we can just get some bearings in the lower end and have a running motor.
