Washing ze car
 

So the Z lost its warm home inside the garage for the summer and I am looking for advice on how to keep it clean. It pretty much gets covered in pollen and dust, but I don't wanna wash it every week with soap.

I was thinking a car cover, but ehh.

Basically I don't wanna ruin the paint by wash/waxing it to frequently.

Like would it be worth just spraying it down and what not.

micro fiber to wipe crap off of the wax. wax should last about a month. car covers are good investments though IMO, just don't bother with the locking cable :-x

my bro has one of those california water blades and that gets water off his car goodlike.

washing doesnt hurt the car at all as long as you keep your sponge or mitt clean and free of any road grime and hard particles that will scratch it... id recommend waxing it once a month like adam said... you should be good to go... your gonna get pollen on it this time of the year... no escaping that...

Just use a good spray detailer like I do, works fine for light dust and water spots and light pollen. I like Meguiars quick detailer, fast clean & shine by duragloss is fabulous it's my fav.
With a detail spray you get a clean glossy finish and you won't strip your wax.

i use and like tropicare suff, also like the 3m soap

just wash it weekly and wax once a month. california duster works pretty good from what i have seen. If you gonna get a car cover get a nice one not a pep boy special. the cheap ones scratch the paint.

Yea, thats what is leading me away from a cover, and I drive the car daily-ish too.

I just rinsed it off today and dried/wiped it down with a micro fiber cloth, looks good. I guess I will do that for now, and maybe wax it every once and awhile.

drying/wiping down will cause more damage than soapy water.....if you own a leaf blower, dry it with that :)

Well they are new microfibers that get washed after every use.

just buy an SLP car cover. That's what I will be doing once the trans am arrives tomorrow 11:30AM =]

yea the pollen will get thru a car cover... it sucks and just goes everywhere

Yea I use the backback blower on any vehicles at the house i care enough about, and no annoying water spots or drips from the molding or mirrors.

Good car cover is all you need

How often do you drive it? If not often, prep the car with a good wash, then wax. From there, buy a nice car cover and keep it covered. Do not put the cover on when the car is dirty though as I'm sure you are aware.

The few times my car was without a garage, I just made sure to wash it regularly and with good product. Keep the mitts clean and your drying towels plush and clean as well. I normally use Tropi-Care products to wash the vehicle with a microfiber mitt, and dry with waffle-weave microfiber drying towels. I do not notice any scratching of any kind with this process.
