Friendly Motorcycle PSA (SEMI-NSFW)

Below I'm going to post some pictures of one of my students who wiped out on his motorcycle wearing only shorts & a t-shirt. I haven't gotten the full legitimate story, but the gist of it goes he was on the road & swerved to avoid a car that cut him off and he dumped the bike.

Not for the weak stomached:

Moral of the story is WEAR YOUR GEAR, and for your Cagers out there, pay attention, get off the cell phone and turn down the music, the weather is getting nicer out and the two wheeled crowd is out & about.

madness410 04-28-2009 10:54 PM

ouchies...glad he is ok. idk why people wouldnt ride without gear

baddest434 04-28-2009 11:00 PM

or maybe worse. kick his ass now, get it through his head. better yet. show him these pics and then tell him that the guy was really lucky that a hole in the leg is all he got.

he deserves that wound. imo

Triple-A 04-29-2009 03:17 AM

(((( Really hope he learned his lesson. Speedy recovery for him!

LS1Hawk 04-29-2009 06:04 AM

He's very lucky. I've heard/seen much worse. I hope he knows better now.

X2. shorts and a silk shirt. i was going to say, he looks good but idk about how it'd look in a casket, but i kept my mouth shut. it's his decision if he wants to become road rash.

If I remember correctly, j0n was the victim of a driver not paying attention on Rt 22 at one of the "Whitehouse-area suicide median u-turns". Not pretty and he got pretty banged up. I think the thread is still here if you search for it.

Although skin is cheaper than gear, gear is less painful. When I was down in Alabama, we used to ride in shorts and shirts. One day I got cut off and dumped the bike. Luckily it was a low speed incident, but the end of the shorts sliced into the back of my knee. No more short for me on a bike. The ironic thing about that day and the incident was prior to the crash, we were tearing up the back roads well above the limit.

Moral of story:
$h!t happens when you least expect it. be prepared and put down the F'ing phone or stick it in your arse.

Lots of people that wear inappropriate clothing on bikes are squids or folks that have never been down and think they can survive all. There are riders that have have been down and rides that will go down.

let's hope it's just the hospital and not the morgue.

LTb1ow 04-29-2009 09:02 AM

Tis but a flesh wound!

Ouch.

Teds89IROC 04-29-2009 09:25 AM

I always see idiots wearing shorts when they're on a motorcycle...hopefully this will be a wakeup call for him

heavy_chevy29 04-29-2009 11:03 AM

you know what the sad thing is. if he was wearing jeans, they wouldnt have helped him out that much. the only thing that would have saved his skin is leathers. very rarely do you see anyone one ride with full leathers.

deadtrend1 04-29-2009 07:41 PM

I never ride in shorts anymore after burning my leg on the exhaust...

I laid my first bike over at about 50mph. It was just a stupid accident no screwin around or anything. I tore my left forearm open about a 1/4 inch deep and about 10 inches long, tore my back apart near my waist, and rolled into a sign post bruising my kidneys. I always wear jeans but in the summer riding with a leather coat on gets just too dang hot so its a t-shirt for me. I dont think I can survive all I just take the chance over heat exhaustion. I just ride very defensively anymore , not that I will always be fine just take extra precautions. That and I have lots more experience with riding also helps.

sweetbmxrider 04-29-2009 08:48 PM

oh damnnnnn!!!!!

i couldn't imagine someone would be dumb enough to ride in sandals. bye bye toes

Get a good Mesh jacket man, I have an incredible Teknic Mesh w/ Armor, that saved my ass and its still in awesome condition, the only casualty to the jacket was a torn button that my friend is sowing back on for me. The jacket compared to my AlpineStar Leather is like wearing a hoodie.

01SS 04-29-2009 09:22 PM

I actually never even checked them out. They always look to crotch rockety for a Harley rider. How much they run?

I think I payed like $80 last year for it, its just a simple black mesh jacket, says Teknick on the shoulders in dark gray, it gets incredible airflow and is awesome in the summer, and even if it gets cooler theres enough room to wear a hoodie underneath.
