I feel the same way. I have a feeling it's owned by a pretty big company so they just spend a crap load of $$$ advertising it.

BonzoHansen 05-08-2009 01:03 PM

it's there to let attention whores be more obvious about it.

Knipps 05-08-2009 01:11 PM

madness410 05-08-2009 02:02 PM

Little G 05-08-2009 06:41 PM

It seems to be popular everywhere except the US. The Brits love it.

BigAls87Z28 05-08-2009 09:41 PM

I know several towns around here are using twitter to update the community on things that are going on, such as why were there cops outside of some building, or any local fires, etc etc.

I dunno, I have been keeping an eye on it...

It's the "Next Big Thing" and nobody shuts up about it for two seconds. I joke about it at work, saying "Twitter was full" but only a few people get the joke.

Never been to the site, never plan on it. I barely even go on myspace or facebook anymore(I assume Twitter is just like that?).

As an update- it is a service where you can broadcast instant updates to your subscribers.

Tru2Chevy 05-11-2009 08:27 PM

I have never been on the site, but my understanding is that it's basically an entire site just for facebook-like status updates.

Oh ok...I'm not important enough for people to want instant status updates on my life  Nor could I give a rats ass about anyone else. :D

That's what I figured, and that's why I can't figure out why it's everywhere. Seems like maybe they offered stock to companies that push them to be big, because I fail to see teh point.

I read recently that Twitter only has a 40% retention rate among new users after a month. So 60% of people are getting bored with it or find it useless pretty fast.

MonmouthCtyAntz 05-12-2009 02:38 PM

Yea I didnt get it at first...i think the novelty is you receive texts from people on your list about what their doing...lol...that being said I signed up few weeks back and havent went on since
