Need new valve seals.
Need new valve seals in the 87 z28. Just trying to get a rough estimate on cost if I have someone do it as opposed to doing it myself because it doesn't seem like fun, haha.

just find a good set of heads that flow better than your do already....modding and fixing the problem ftw. plus you get the added bonus of having new head gaskets

its a bit time consuming, if you still have a/c, AIR and the hater control valve on the passenger side its a little bit of a pain. But very doable.
I did them last year on Bandit88's car and the only tough one was the #8 cylinder because of the AC box in the way of my valve spring compressor. Basically just had two of my friends with big flathead screwdrivers push down on the spring while I removed the keepers |
I'm not sure how much it would be, but I'm fairly sure its about an 8 hour job flat rate, so depending on shop rate it could be pretty expensive in labor. It might be worth it to just pull the heads, do new head gaskets. Its easier to do the valve springs with the heads off. Also, if your valve guides can accept it, put the positive type seals on both valves. The kits will usually come with enough to only put the positive seals on the intake, and o-rings on the exhaust.

What engine are we talking about? Is it a throttle body injected, tuned port injected, or is it carbed. If its a 305 don't waste your money on heads just leave the stock ones on there.
