Down to 2 Camaros now

the L78 has been sold and is on it's way to Texas! Time to look for a replacement.

BonzoHansen 05-16-2009 12:57 PM

How about a 69 JL8 car? That would be a good replacement.

LTb1ow 05-16-2009 01:00 PM

5th gen?

You don't know Jeff too well. Ask him again in 5 years.

That was the plan, sell the 70 and use the money to finish the 69. I'll probably look for something as a side project in another early 2nd gen.

BonzoHansen 05-16-2009 01:35 PM

Arrrghhh. I'm gonna take your beer away.

BigAls87Z28 05-16-2009 01:48 PM

From Canada, to here, to Texas. A little further south and it can be a tri-lingual car! :)

PolarBear 05-17-2009 01:59 AM

Wow Jeff. Did you get what you wanted for it? I guess ill have to hold th early second gen torch for our group in Mercer county now

WildBillyT 05-17-2009 09:22 AM

Congrats Jeff, I know you've been trying to sell it for a while.

JL8Jeff 05-17-2009 10:19 AM

Well, I never put any real effort into selling it because I enjoyed driving it so much. I got my bottom line. I think a lot of people still don't know what these cars are worth and the economic collapse hurt even more. He seems really happy with the car and he plans on rebuilding the motor back to stock L78 specs and driving it. He has his own machine/engine business so that won't cost him much of anything other than the square port heads.

PolarBear 05-17-2009 10:22 AM

I saw a set of matching date coded square port heads on craigs list today. Said for 69/70 wondered if you needed them for the JL8 but I don't remember what size engine it has

Mike 05-17-2009 10:25 AM

isnt it a 302?

The 70 was an L78, the '69 is the 302...

JL8Jeff 05-17-2009 11:54 AM

The L78 rectangular (sorry, I called them square port) port heads for 1970 were a specific casting # and tough to find the right dates for the engine that was in my car. I have heads for the 302 in the 69. I saw those heads on Craigslist and almost bought them. I think you're referring the factory replacement heads the guy advertised.

69RSZ 05-17-2009 08:00 PM

Hi Jeff, did someone see it at the carshow for sale? Congrats and hope to see the 69 done soon.Ron.

Yeah probably, he wanted like 1900 or something for them. Are those the correct heads for the 70? Maybe not the correct date but... just wondering

No, it was somebody who has been in contact with me for about 2-3 months.
