need some title help

I found a really good deal for a landscape trailer on craigslist. The only problem is that the person selling it doesn't have the title. The person selling it suggested registering it as "Home made" but the process for that is ridiculous, requiring receipts for every part used. When I called the MVC they basically said they don't know what I can do to register this trailer. I would just say oh well, but it's exactly the trailer i need for an awesome price. Can anyone help me out here?

is the trailer currently registered? one old trailer i had stated on the reg. card "NTTRL" or something similar. stood for "no title trailer" and to re-register it, a new owner would just need a copy of the old reg and a bill of sale.

I had bought a trailer and all I needed was the bill of sale to register it. That was about 10 years ago though....

In NJ trailers below a certian weight are not titled.

you have to get the bill of sale notarized too, make sure u clear with the dmv what info has to be on the bill of sale..i had to do it twice when i sold my trailer because it didnt have certain things.

they really make you get receipts for every part for a home made trailer? they didnt when i registered mine..
