Went to a non-sponsor shop to have my car tuned

I just got my dyno tune done.... I have at the rear wheels... 301hp, and 318 in tq on the 98 vett.......When he started he asked who messed with my car, and I asked why? He explained that my timming was off pretty bad...

So He brought my car from 269 horses on the first run too, that.... and WOW!
My car feels so much better!

Icemansghost 05-24-2009 05:20 PM

Im going to get them to install the 3:42 rear.... So Timmy I comming for you partna.....:moon:

Tru2Chevy 05-24-2009 05:23 PM

Well, that's certainly a nice jump in power.

Anti_Rice_Guy 05-24-2009 05:28 PM

With headers? That's a huge jump in power, but still seems kind of low.

Icemansghost 05-24-2009 05:28 PM

I recommend a tune from them anyday! They use a program called RP though? never heard of it... and the crappy old tune came from my hypercrap power programmer... Really wish I didnt buy it

They use a Dyno Dynamics loaded dyno there. Never seen numbers off of one of those before, so I reserved my comments.

He said on a auto usually 25 percent power reduction on a automatic at the rear wheels.... SO I am a 345hp stock NEW at the motor... I dont think its bad..... considering I wish i bought a 6 speed.........

They are running a procharger special too... 6599

What do you think of the price?

Includes install, and intercooler, and bigger fuel pump....

My hypertech has been great, and I made almost 300 rwhp with it, also automatic, with stock manifolds.

I was merely comparing the Camaro to Vette. On a Mustang dyno, with stock exhaust manifolds, also an automatic, I made 297 rwhp. And I started out with 285 new at the flywheel. It might just be that kind of dyno.

Frosty 05-24-2009 06:03 PM

That's still low IMO but I don't know anything about the dyno they use.

Icemansghost 05-24-2009 06:05 PM

they also called my car a biscuit..... I had to laugh

no more vette frosty?

jims69camaro 05-24-2009 06:13 PM

that procharger kit is a steal. if you have the means, get it. you will love yourself after it's installed.

Yes. I have the dyno sheet somewhere, but feel free to ask any of the members who were at dyno day with me @ SSP. With the mods listed in sig.

Mc73nova + his wife, njgunslinger, burninrubbergt, mtg6486, lastcall190, and 1984camaroz28 (the shop owner) all witnessed it.

I am not disputing the power numbers made, just not agreeing with the hypertech having any part in them.

I didn't mean it had a huge part, but it surely didn't hurt, and I love the shift kit from it, if nothing else (also have premium tune running).

sponsors pay the bills, promoting non sponsor shops is against the rules, its not that crazy of a rule to have

Hypertech and all those hand tuners are all pretty much trash especially when tuning a LSX ODB 2 car. That program the tuner used I have never even heard of. Almost all shops use HP tuners or LS1 edit. Also what kind of dyno was the car dynoed on the 1st time and 2nd time? If they are different you can't really compare numbers.

I assume from the way he worded it that the first number he tossed out was on their dyno, pre-tune. Most shops will get a baseline dyno pull so you can see just how much power you picked up from the tune.
