Yeah that is. In one of the recent commercials there was a car just like that, I guess it wasnt his then

madness410 05-29-2009 04:45 PM

wait is it being driven around the country and whoever finds it wins? or did he sell it off to someone and they want people to track it down?

either way that is a gorgeous looking car and i think im going to choose papa johns over any other fast food pizza joint because of this

Knipps 05-29-2009 04:49 PM

papa john's pizza sucks but this is definitely a sweet contest

edit: John, I'm pretty sure it was sold years ago and they're just trying to find it again.

jin1481 05-29-2009 06:50 PM

Yea... on the pizza boxes, it has the story of how he sold his camaro to start his pizza business. It is a sweet ride... im sure he's offering a reward to whomever finds it, and Im sure he will pay with a separate stash to buy it back from the current owner. It could have been crushed and made into Campbell soup cans for all we know

*Yawn* another split bumper...how bourgeois. They're becoming as numerous as ricers with fartcan mufflers. ;)

CamaroJoe1987 05-30-2009 12:53 AM

i read the official rules, and it seems like they expect ppl to walk up to random ppl who have that car/similar looking car, and ask to see its title.

Official rule number 4: you must show proof of official vehicle title stating the names of all past owners, including John Schnatter, and a photo of the Camaro outlined in the contest.

wtf?! is there a way someone would know if that was the car for them to ask to see the title like that?

CamaroJoe1987 05-30-2009 12:59 AM

the story says that he sold it in kentucky, so its probably somewhere in that state anyway

BobonaStick 05-30-2009 01:17 AM

that just seems like a lost battle... and the person who owns it now is gonna get 25gs for havin it..

It's worth a shot and I bet it's good marketing. People will see a 2nd gen and probably think of papa john's, but whether or not they buy the pizza is another story  And I think the 25 grand is for whoever finds the car, but the owner I'm sure will get paid a separate amount, as Noah said.

JL8Jeff 05-30-2009 10:05 PM

No dmv is going to give proof of prior owners in today's world of privacy lawsuits so I would expect them to revise the "rules". It's a cool idea, but they didn't think it out well enough.

True, but I guess what they could do is get the information from the current owner of who they bought the car from then contact that person asking the same information etc etc to see if it leads back to John

Laaaaaaaaame

Screw Pappa Johns. If I found his car, Id wreck it into a wall.
Ate it two times, both times became violently ill.

BurninrubberGT 05-31-2009 03:03 PM

you know there is someone in the south right now cursing his head off because he crushed the car last week

J.Reed 05-31-2009 03:55 PM

Yeah camaros where disposable in the 80s. My dad had like 10 2nd gens with more than half of them getting crushed or taken apart. I believe in one of the commercials the papa john guy is driving a convertible 67-69, or maybe a 2nd gen. Id have to see it again, but i did spot that. Its only a flash of the car in the background
