thoughts on purchasing a used clutch and flywheel...
there is a guy selling a spec stage 3 clutch and fidanza aluminum flywheel on lstech... for a good price... he claims there is only 500 miles on the setup... just seeing what you guys though... i now if you put a bad clutch flywheel on... out of balance you can do some really bad damage... do you guys think it is safe to buy something like this used... or should i just go new for a "wear" part like a clutch....? BTW t his is the exact setup was going to go with for my build...

I wouldn't reccomend it.. Would you put used brake pads and rotors on? Especially if it took 4-5 hours to do the job? Kinda the same thing in my opinion.

ask Ron how mad he was when his used clutch wasnt as described

No way, unless its sooo cheap and you are going to get it rebuilt. Too much time and effort involved and the first 500-1000 miles are the most critical in the life of a clutch. Improper break-in is one of the major reasons for clutches failing, then its all for nothing. I'd shy away from it.

don't buy a spec used. Their clutches have a rep of either lasting a long time, or being **** in 5K miles. I've spent 3 months researching clutches and am dropping the trans tonight to finally install the clutch. I went with a monster stage 3. They are a new company that specialize in street/strip clutches. I'll post up a multimedia thread later tonight about "going green" and I'll let you know what I think of the clutch.

reviews. there are only 3-5 companies that make parts for these clutches, so there isnt much difference between spec, monster, etc other than the color they paint it
