Ford 5.0 question
i dont know much about the ford stuff so i figured i would ask before i went ahead with the job.
i was just getting ready to go out and do a tuneup on my 92 5.0 bronco and i noticed something that didnt look right. the spark plug wires are on the correct terminals on the distributer cap but the #1 termial is not where it should be according to diagrams im looking at. the diagrams im looking show that from the front of the truck #1 should roughly be at 1 o'clock but where it is is actually about 10 to 11 o'clock. should i just remove the wires and put the new cap and rotor back on the way i took it off or should i rotate the distributer back to where it should be? |
put them how they were if it ran alright. Someone before you just probably spun the distributor to much and put TDC where-ever they wanted.
If its really buggin you, break out the timing light, and move the wires where you want and re time it. |
yeah...check the timing, really it could be anywhere...looking at a picture from my 87 mustang it was at either 11 or 12 o clock
they like bumped timing, the trucks got the H.O. right? usually 13-14* is the sweet spot...stock is 10*. just be careful if you run regular in it |
i run premium in my cars. lol
|
i think there is a little plug you have to pull out before you can adjust the timing. its on the driverside fender. gray in color. two wires.
|
yeah its called the SPOUT connector. its the thing that tells the computer to advance the timing, if you pull it out it runs it at base timing. it may not be on the firewall, on a foxbody its part of the pigtail that goes to the TFI module on the side of the dizzy
