Are you running a front plate?

I bought a front plate cover off a member of Tech & I should have it in the next few days.

I'm kind of worried about putting it on though... but I hate having that damn license plate mess up the front of the car.

How many of you guys are running no front plate?

I frequent Rt. 208, a number of towns in Bergen County, Rt. 23, Rt. 46, Rt. 287 & a few towns in Middlesex County... Do you guys think I'll get hassled for it?

Front plate here.

deadtrend1 06-14-2009 05:24 PM

yes. I recently bought my front cover, and only ran it for a month before I pulled it off. It doesn't bother me to run the plate.

baddest434 06-14-2009 05:25 PM

as ugly as the front plate makes the front of the car look. ask yourself if it's worth the ticket or not. no front plate is just a reason to get pulled over.
i know they alter the nice looks of alot of cars but imo it's not worth the hassle.

I refuse to drill holes in my bumper. Haven't gotten pulled over yet

DevilDougWS6 06-14-2009 06:17 PM

you mean that other plate isnt an extra if you lose your rear one?

MonmouthCtyAntz 06-14-2009 06:19 PM

Sure do, wish i didnt have to...Went w/ the slp plate holder.

my dad didnt use a front plate when he had my car, i run one becuase if i dont it just gives a cop an excuse to pull me over.....then again i drove from roxbury to millville and back with the plate filler on and was never stopped

my buddy was pulled over twice within 2 weeks of not having a front plate on his new gti after he got a new nose...the plate is now ziptied to the grill lol, so is the one on the gto

i know their was a bill trying to be passed in nj to rid the front license plate law a year or 2 ago but i dont think it went anywhere unfortunately

Clutch Master 06-14-2009 07:21 PM

not since day 1 have i had my plate on, its hanging up in my garage.

NJ346 06-14-2009 07:22 PM

i went about 5 months with no front plate on the car, but now that summer is here and I frequently am in the Seaside area, I zip tied it on so I don't get bothered.

Frosty 06-14-2009 07:42 PM

Nope but I live in PA...however I have four nice rust stains on my bumper since the car was a NJ car...**** you NJ!

mtg6486 06-14-2009 07:47 PM

i just put on the slp one because i had gotten pulled over for not having it

thunder 06-14-2009 07:56 PM

i wish i had known about the slp one before i got the big ****ing thing from the dealer

Jersey Mike 06-14-2009 07:57 PM

Does the dashboard thing work at all? or does that not cut it in NJ?

JerzLT1 06-14-2009 07:59 PM

I don't care about getting pulled over for something that stupid. I'm fortunate enough to be in the military and they just let stuff like that slide

//<86TA>\\ 06-14-2009 08:19 PM

they make nice retractable plate holders that mount to the underside of the bumper, so you can put it down for pics or shows, and be legal when driving.
i have one, its pretty nice

putting the plate in the dash board only reminds the cops its not on your front bumper. i refuse to run a front plate. its retarded.

sweetbmxrider 06-14-2009 09:23 PM

front plate on the dash is obstruction of vision and no front plate  double own

i got a ticket though when i drove with no front plate so i am going to grab a retractable thing i think. that or zip ties.

Little G 06-14-2009 09:25 PM

Never had one. No problems yet - maybe the cops have an appreciation for a beautiful car.

Teds89IROC 06-14-2009 09:27 PM

nope, haven't for a couple of years, I will not drill into my grille. I keep the plate in the backseat so I have an excuse as to why it's not mounted in the front if I get pulled over.
