any magnetic objects like unshielded speakers sitting too close to it?

EDIT: don't thick that will affect a LCD. Good luck on your quest...

Probably... maybe your son thought it could use a magnet? When I was a little kid, my TV did the same thing. It went away after a while though.

g

EDIT - of course that was before LCD and plasma but I guess they do the same thing as CRT?

Knipps 06-22-2009 07:32 PM

the wii sensor wouldn't do that.

Tru2Chevy 06-22-2009 07:50 PM

No, the LCD shouldn't be affected by a magnet at all.

it appears that the LCD(liquid crystal display) panel was damaged and that is actually the liquid leaking out. Same thing happens if you crack a cellphone screen or similar.
its possible that something/someone pushed on the screen at the bottom, causing the break. and if that is the case, there really is no fixing it, probably cheaper to buy a new tv at that point.

Yeah...the LCD is leaking. Could be the water that damaged it.
Start scanning for July 4th sales...
