i'm getting CROWS system trained!!! w00t!!
i knew we were getting some in our company and a few would get trained.
just found out im one of them. i fly out to the main base in a few days to get a week of classes! and btw CROWS is Common Remotely Operated Weapon Station. Meaning i get to sit IN the truck, not up top exposed, lol. http://www.armyrecognition.com/image...States_003.jpg |
Looks like alot of fun. Alot safer then being up on top

man i wish the Marine Corps would cough up some dough for those. we found out today that it would cost them 6 more dollars per unit to issue us dragon skin instead of the gay MTV.
|
yea, ive heard the dragon skin debate a few times in the past. I like how it can take multiple hits, whereas our sapi plates take one and crack... But I heard for us Army at least they stuck with the IOTV due to the dragon skin being like 5-7 lbs more. Your vest is even suppossed to be better than ours. Hell our IOTV is already 50some lbs, who cares about 5 more. I dont carry ammo on my vest just a gerber, seatbelt cutter, IFAK, laser, and gauges for my M2. I stay in the truck with the crew serve, but if i ever dismount id grab 2 saw porkchop bandoliers i keep stored by me.

ya i like the older vest we had, very simple to put on and less moving parts. this new one has side sapis that dig into your armpits, and you CANT move. the dragon skin is atleast flexible, and takes more hits.
|
Does your MTV have a quick release? you pull a cord and it falls off you? ours always loosens up and come apart due to that.
|
yeah it has that, which is probably only good for a corpsman if he needs to get your vest off real quick....or playing pranks on other Marines. Its kind of held in place with velcro though. this whole vest system is a waste, and has no foreseen advantages to the older one.
