Fastest car to street

So what is the fastest car you would drive as a DD?

None of the BS street car vs. race car nonsense, just asking if an 11 sec car would be a DD for you or maybe a 10 sec car?

NJ Torque 07-01-2009 11:51 AM

fast and streetable are 2 different things...

madness410 07-01-2009 12:13 PM

didnt vin diesel and paul walker daily drive a 10 second car in fast and furious?

FIcamaroRE92 07-01-2009 12:26 PM

Ill drive a less than 11 car, but i would be very cautious on how I drive it, if that makes any sense

HeadlessNorseman 07-01-2009 12:41 PM

In my opinion, anything faster than mid or low 12s is the limit for a DD. Anything faster than that, youre just asking for trouble

WildBillyT 07-01-2009 12:48 PM

Daily = rain, snow. So I said 11-12

for that 10 seconds or less,... I'm free

sweetbmxrider 07-01-2009 12:51 PM

i'd take a slower car, and spray the **** outa it

BurninrubberGT 07-01-2009 01:06 PM

theres a guy in pa with a 10/11 sec dd gto, he was at island a couple weeks ago

my dd is a 15 second car :D
my next dd will be a 12 second car within a year or two of getting it

MonmouthCtyAntz 07-01-2009 01:16 PM

These cars suck for daily drivers...I did it w/ my modded 97 LT1, never again.

Formulalt1 07-01-2009 01:25 PM

If we had better roads around here, I wouldn't have too hard of a time DD the bird but with how low it is with long tubes, subframes and the stiffer suspension, it kinda makes it a little uncomfortable but I am sure there are streetable 10 - 11 second cars that are better suited for daily driving, I just wouldn't trust myself to drive a car like that every day.

NastyEllEssWon 07-01-2009 01:31 PM

ill daily drive an open wheeled dragster if i was allowed

this

i wouldnt dd a stock f-body.

Formulalt1 07-01-2009 01:39 PM

I've DD 2 C4 vettes with a Z51 suspension. If I could manage that a stock F-body would feel like riding in a cadillac .

91chevywt 07-01-2009 02:42 PM

Maybe 13 second car at the fastest...any more I think its too easy to get in trouble. It becomes really easy to speed, and difficult to drive in hazardous conditions. It really depends on the car too. Are we talking about something bought stock, or something that would be modified?

Kat 07-01-2009 02:46 PM

I dd my vert for a while... That was running 12.4's at 110.8.. Dont think that I'd take it on a really long trip tho

procamaroz28 07-01-2009 03:16 PM

its annoying and it takes the fun out of a fast car if u drive it everyday, if i had money prob the fastest dd id own would be a g8

z28rob18 07-01-2009 03:24 PM

i plan to DD my car. so far ive gathered that ill be asking for it and it wont be fun anymore and its not smart. thought it was in my sig but the goals for 9.80s on a 200 shot

many cars can go that fast or faster stock.....

CamaroJoe1987 07-01-2009 04:26 PM

i hope the TA can atleast get somewhere between 11-12 on the 1/4

98Gsxr750 07-01-2009 04:45 PM

Id say anywhere in the 12 sec 1/4 area in my camaro would be fine for me to daily drive. Any faster and i know i would speed.

69BirdX 07-01-2009 04:50 PM

I love DD my car. But I would DD a 10 sec car. I would just make it set up for the street. With turbo cars you can easily get a decent cruiser/10 sec track car.

1QWIKBIRD 07-01-2009 05:33 PM

I went between 11 and 12, but there is lots of gray area in there. My Firechicken goes solid 11.7's -11.8' and is an easy daily driver all motor, nothing crazy. But take an old school muscle car that goes 11's on the motor and I bet its a completely different animal that might not really be all that much fun to DD (think cam, carb, compression and no creature comforts etc). Nitrous skews the curve wildy and turbos and other forms of assisted breathing do the same. So it depends more on the combo than on the pure number IMO.

BigAls87Z28 07-01-2009 05:50 PM

It really really depends on the car.
Take an 10 sec car. How many people here have 10 sec cars here or driven one? Probably race suspension, loud, horrible gas milage, and probably missing some interior parts.
But look at a car like the ZR1. A flick of a switch, you go from local cruser car, to a full on sports car. Its engine is civil around town, but can turn into a monster.
It comes down 100% to the car itself.
You could daily drive a ZR1, if you had the funds, but I would be hard pressed to daily drive a 1-4th gen Fbody running 10's.

LTb1ow 07-01-2009 05:53 PM

Whys that Al?

I can spray mine to 10 sec glory.
