MUTHA F*$&@*$'N PANHARD BAR!
Alright, was wrapping up the rear suspension, throwin in the LCA's, the new springs, and my new on the car adjustable panhard bar.
LCA's went in like a champ. Springs were easy Panhard bar time!! Yeah, bolt to the axle is nice and easy... go to the one on the frame...uh...yeah not coming off. Hrmm, let me get a bigger wrench here....nope nope. Ok, fired up the compressor. DAT DAT DAT DAT DAT!! Not moving at all. I tried breaker bars, Ive used a boxed end wrench to give me better leverage, and it doesnt even want to move!!! The bolt will move around if I just spin it w/o holding the other side. I soaked it in PB a few times, moved teh panhard bar around a few times...hit it again with the gun, still nothing. WTF!!! Any ideas or is there something Im missing on how to remove this? |
since you already tried forcing it out, impacting it out, try pouring some rust and corrosion dissolving liquid like lemon oil and tap on the bolt to get the liquid to reach the inside, some times the corrosion around the bolt makes it impossible to break loose. and if all else fails get a steel chizle and break it off.

if you have room, buy a piece of like 12 inch pipe that fits around a breaker bar and slide it over to make it longer, nothing like leverage:nod:

Cut the bolt

can you drive it? bring it to the meet. i'll give it a go. otherwise, heat.
|
Torch it till it's good and hot, then hit it with PB Blaster. That's how I got the front end of my Jeep apart to do hubs and U joints last month.

Soak it in PB overnight. Heat works but will cook off the PB.

sawzall?

I kinda need to keep thr nut and bolt to put the new one in. I figured heat but was hoping for an easy trick. I tried leverage and still no.

Be careful when touching then PB blasting. I watch my HS auto shop teacher light a kids car on fire like that.
|
Im sure a member on there has that bolt laying around, i might even have one out back. Ive never had trouble like that on one of them so i say just heat or cut that sucker!
|
whats wrong with the stock panhard bar? just keep it on lol

if you have a torch, heat just the nut a few times, ice it/spray it with water, and repeat like 10 times. Try to get just the nut too and not the bolt too much. works like a charm. |
go the other way!

BigAl is not living up to his name... your a big guy, two big box wrenches, lock teh one against the frame, lean on the other... not hard .
