pocono this friday 7/17 with PDA
anyone going?
They are doing all 3 infield course (north, south and east) as well as having a free autocross on the main straight from 1-5. http://www.pdadrivingschool.com/article.php?id=36 We’ve gone with them before and you get TONS of track time. They are also having a time trial but I don’t know which course that’ll be on yet… Let me know if you want to come. |
AFAIK, the time trials are on East Course. The autocross is free is if you sign up for the time trials. Here is a quote from MSNE web site:
"July 17th - This is the first day of the 3 day annual Grand Slam event, which offers all 3 courses at Pocono on Friday, following by HPDE / Races at the Double Infield configuration on Saturday, and Long – Single Infield runs on Sunday. In addition to the HPDE, we will be running the TT session at the end of the day on Friday on the East Course. For more details and registration, please refer to the notes on May 2nd event." |
cool thanks dude.
i just signed up for the time trials. |
I'll be there Friday, first track event since May '08 and I'm psyched.

Great meeting up with you on Fri, great track day even though my alternator puked during session 4. At least it got home under its own power. Brand new Remy alt is in, hopefully no further drama.

yesterday was great but i called it quits at 3:30 when the rain came. fine with me. i was exhausted.
She did had some issues with the abuse though. The diff was puking fluid from somewhere and after about 20 minutes of hard abuse (never when co-drive, my brother, ran her haha), smoke would come into the cabin and I'd end the session. I think the diff fluid is dripping on to the exhaust; will research further. Another issue was like a fog horn type of low frequency noise coming from the drivers side fuel tank area. It started happening at 1/4 tank of fuel and stopped after we filled up the tank. Weird. Probably something like a vaccuum was created or something like that. Another issue was after running hard on the south course, the "Security" light started blinking on the dash, and when I pitted and turned off the car, it wouldn't restart until about 10 minutes later. The toyo r888's look amazing considering 2 drivers where using them. I ran em about 41 lbs front and 35 rear. Towards the end of the session when the rear temps increased to about 37, she'd be getting real loose. Or was that the diff fluid? Doh! http://209.177.55.37/images/c5images...07-17-2009.JPG GT3 in expert group giving me the point by: http://209.177.55.37/images/c5images...07-17-2009.JPG http://209.177.55.37/images/c5images...07-17-2009.JPG i don't remember seeing this z06 on the track but check out the penske shocks: http://209.177.55.37/images/c5images...07-17-2009.JPG http://209.177.55.37/images/c5images...07-17-2009.JPG |
Of all three road courses, I like North the best. More straight distance and overall smoother than the other two.
I was surprised at how bumpy the South course NASCAR turn 1 was. It appears to have been paved as 4 or 5 separate lanes, and the middle two are like driving over a washboard. Not fun doing 80+ on a 15deg bank with the rear end yawing out. East is just too tight 'n twisty for a heavy V8 rear-drive car, IMHO. It's still fun, but I'll take the North track any day. |
come on dude, i love the east course! Even when i had my old 1999 Formula, I always liked east; maybe because its a big autocross :) yeah south was bumpy as hell like a wash board. I was surprised about that.
North is a little boring except for the first turn off the straight; you can carry tons of speed into that little dog-leg if you have enough balls. Which I don't :) My vette needs more power! 311 hp ain't enough, especially for hauling around 3470 lbs (yes, with driver). |

And here's your answer for more power......bolt it in and go kick some tail all day long.... http://store.katechengines.com/share...unt2=516883492  |

Oops, just realized that you might not be using the race tires... I'm not sure, how big the difference would be, since on Mustang the speed is limited by power, I pretty much stay flat on the gas all the way through. |
damn hopefully i'll join you guys next summer
