Motor Mount??
 

I'm replacing the motor mounts in my third gen before i put the motor and trans back into the car.

Any tips/tricks for getting the washers and nuts out without dropping them into the k member? Or further more how the hell to reach to lower bolts without removing the A arm!?!

On the third gens the motor mounts utilize through bolts with washers and nuts on the inside of the k member (not sure if that's the same as on the 4th gens). The only access that GM gives you (aside from where the A arm mounts up to) is a 1 3/4" hole located on rear face of the K member.

So yea 2 of the 3 bolts are easy to remove (through the 1 3/4" hole), however the lower bolt seems to be difficult to get at due to the way the k member is stamped.

Not sure how close it is to first and second gens but when I did subframe frame stands on them I used a telescopic magnet to get out the stuff I dropped. When it was time to put stuff back on I put a shallow socket on a U-joint, dropped the nut in it, and used electrical tape to tape the washer onto the socket. It all bolted up pretty easily each time.

distributor wrench may help reach a nut if need be.

Not sure how close it is to the 1st or 2nd gens either. But the method you described is almost exactly how my uncle (who had a BBC third gen) told me to try. So i'll give it a try tonight.
