I love GMpartsdirect.com

I'm finding parts there that I couldn't get answers out from other people. for the past week I've been asking people in the V6 sites where to find L26 rods ( 3.8 Series III N/A) connectnig rods, and noone answered. On a whim I go onto GMpd, and find them for less then the L32 Rods (3.8 Series III S/C) Rods I mistakenly ordered.

So then I wanted to see if they had an overhaul kit for my Corvette calipers I got, and they have them too!! and they are cheap. Love this website.

Anybody else ever deal with them? what did you think?

PolarBear 07-24-2009 12:13 PM

If you already have part numbers you can get any of those parts from other places cheaper than GMpd.com, they kind of upcharge a lot for shipping.

Yes, yes they do, I havent ordered the parts yet, btu I looked at the shipping for the rods, they want 50 bucks!!! when I bought them from zzperformance, it was 12 bucks to ship... so when you mean other places, I'm guessing you mean dealerships eh? I've always had a bad taste in my mouth after ordering a few things from dealerships before. From the service, to the prices.

I use http://www.rmsautoparts.com/ most recently as the guy I used to use went there and then he retired. But they dont have a lot of stuff on the site that you see on others, but they can get it all

I bought OEM fuel injectors for my Blazer from them, and they were considerably less expensive than anywhere else. Customer service was very quick to answer my questions via e-mail as well. I'd definitely use them again.

it takes months to recieve the gmpp suspension package for wbodies from them

i am always tempted to buy something from them but then they rape you on shipping / handling (i think the handling is them jacking the prices up to what everyone else is charging) but usually its easier to just go to the dealership with the part number and its a little bit cheaper than what GMPD wants (parts + shipping) and you dont have to pay shipping at the dealership

Shipping is super slow.

Um, "them" would be GM Parts Direct, the topic of this thread. I'm sorry, but I wasn't aware that objective pronouns were against the rules in these forums.

My guess, based on the order & context of the posts, is he mentioned another place and the next few posts were "them" so he was wondering which place. And he did not want to assume.

Savage_Messiah 07-25-2009 11:12 AM

No direct experiance with them but I have also heard horrible things about their shipping speed

Blacdout96 07-25-2009 11:41 AM

so 50 bucks for slow shipping speed, **** that then.

Exacery

The problem I have found with local dealers is that most of them want to charge retail for all the parts they sell. After one or two I decided not to buy locally again as others dealers out there would rather sell more at a lower price, plus local dealers (in most cases) have to charge sales tax. So add the sales tax to the already high price and it is rape. GMPD may charge a little more for the "handling" but I would assume they are decent to order from, I had a "guy" before and he would always sell 5% over his cost plus the actual shipping so I never bothered with GMPD except to ballpark a price.

Blacdout96 07-28-2009 07:11 AM

I had one of our usual customers who works at a chevy dealership call in, and while I had him on the phone I gave him the part numbers, and he could only give me list on the parts, thats 69.54 PER rod, and 22.97 per caliper rebuild kit, so orget abotu it, if he cant give me a better price, I'll just go GMPD, Ill have to get raped with the shipping charges.

PolarBear 07-28-2009 07:20 AM

Why don't you get a price from RMS or you could try scoggin dickey sdparts.com

Featherburner 07-28-2009 04:35 PM

Pace Performance for my dealer parts.

Blacdout96 07-28-2009 10:03 PM

Well the problem is my parts are for a 3.8 V6, and alot of people don't carry parts for them. I already tried two of those places you recommended, and they don't carry them, unless Im missing them.

PolarBear 07-28-2009 10:25 PM

just because they dont carry doesnt mean they cant get them. If you have this problem elsewhere you may have to find a place and order, then wait.
