I have never partied while I was underage at Penn

I dunno.. doesnt sound to me like a thorough survey.. "school runs like butter"? c'mon now.. While I'll admit, rutgers is a BIG party school, they surveyed 3-400 students out of... 50,000.. don't tell me less than 1% surveyed is good enough to count.

actually im not saying i didnt party when i was younger....but i dont think underage drinking and partying is something a school should be proud of....i think it just goes to show the quality of school that rutgers is. |
Erm, the survey was on the students that go there, now whether that defines the "school" is debatable. And as stated above, the survey was like 1% of the population.

meh wasnt trying to stir the pot, i just remember back when i was in middle school and they were having all those college fairs that rutgers was a pretty decent school.....as for the survey of the students....just didnt wanna see people tarnishing the name of a decent school over less than 1 percent....
|
1% isn't enough of a sample to draw any conclusion other than the surveyors are idiots.

According to collegeboard.com: Rutgers NB has 28,031 total undergrads. (I don't think that number has changed on that website since I looked at it 18 months ago, and since Rutgers has relaxed its admissions requirement to make up for New Jersey massively cutting its funding but we will roll with it.) 1.07 to 1.42 percent of students answer that survey.

There is no official document or study ever done with Rutgers and STDs. Granted, the students of Rutgers do have fun with this rumor and joke around with it, there is as much sexual promiscuity on campus as any other large university in American. Also, the number of undergrads at Rutgers has increased tremendously. The last 3 classes were each the largest admitted in school history at the time. And it will keep going that way. With New Jersey cutting funding, the school has to look for a new revenue source. And with the economy being the way it is, a lot of students are staying in state because they can not afford to go to out of state class. |
The publication's senior editor, Seamus Mullarkey, did not know the exact number of Rutgers students surveyed when asked Tuesday, but said that an average of 300 to 400 students answered the 80-question survey for each campus.
so, he pulled a number out of his ass? Sounds like my friend's Honda's horsepower estimate  Survey respondents were not randomly selected as in a scientific poll. Location, location, location. What a lot of people who don't go to Rutgers don't realize, is that the university (New Brunswick/Piscataway campus) is split up into 4 sub-campuses; each of which embody something different. You'll find the most studious students on Busch, since that's where the majority of the Biological & Engineering classrooms are. Cook/Douglass was commonly referenced as "the gem" of Rutgers; this is mainly due to the beautiful campus and awesome food. Livingston is the "Freshman Campus" and is in an area where there's "nothing going on." It's where the Freshman, still adjusting to college life and being away from home for the first time, live. College Ave is right near downtown & a stone's throw from the bars--if you're big into the party thing, you're probably looking to live on College Ave or off-campus (right by College Ave). Being the most city-like, College Ave sees the majority of the foot traffic. It's very likely that this is where the surveyors where when they told students of the survey, because of the ease of access. This was definitely not a random survey, so the "results" are worth as much as bad LT1 :p One student calls Rutgers "the kind of university at which, if you make the effort to ... find opportunities to succeed, you will have one of the best experiences of your life." That's totally true. After getting a 2.031 my first semester of my Freshman year, I got focused. After doing some growing up & opening my eyes a little more, I've realized all the amazing things about Rutgers, and if I could do it over again, I would still bleed Scarlet. |
A 2.031 at RU... whats your major?
