4 Lane Drag Strip!?!?

I dont know if anyone has already posted this, but I'm watching an episode of Pinks All Out, and they're at a track in Concord N.C. which has two tracks side by side. They're running 4 cars at a time!

That'd be awsome if we had a track like that near us:nod:

yeah its charlotte north carolina...from what i heard its not that great.

well near charlotte. another board im on had a meet there earlier in the year....looks interesting to say the least though.

Local person to the track... people who run the track dont know how to run it well... they dont even have street racing nights for example each friday they have it just once a month

sweetbmxrider 08-10-2009 07:20 AM

i kept seein it in the commercial, was wondering wtf was goin on

So, instead of a 2 car wreck..... there could be a 4 car wreck.

4 lane race = WAY more chance of bad accident's

It separated into two two car lanes with a concrete wall in the middle of the two lanes. So there's no way a bad accident would happen.

maybe they do know what they are doing, and opening for street cars weekly would cost more than it brought in?

its the Z-MAX dragway... the guy who owns the Z-MAX company built it.

they may have local laws stopping them - I did read where the town initially blocked the building.

I can't imagine that's the case.. Street nights are one of our best nights because there's no payout and less prep needed.

yeah but there is a set number of people that will come out, just because you double the lanes doesn't mean you double the enthusiasts or racers.....but you do double the expenses...

i could see them only running 2 lanes on street nights if they add more to the schedule

Pampered-Z 08-17-2009 01:05 PM

That's really cool.. Nice thing is that if you have an oil down, just move over at keep running, could screw with figuring the track out, but it beats waiting hours for a clean up!

Can't remeber, think NY International was the 4 lane track years ago, 1/8 mile though?

NHRA is running there now. In a little while they are going to do a token 4 lane race. ESPN2... GO!

LTb1ow 09-20-2009 08:40 PM

One lane for hondas, and three for non oil down track cars. Winzzzz.

Funny you mention that. Before I tuned in to the NHRA I was watching a DVR'd episode of Pass Time. Everybody was running great, except for the rotary RX7. The driver bragged about having no pistons, then got up on the line, revved it to 10,000, and broke. They pushed his ass off the track. It was classic.
