pulled it outta the Buick, full tear down and rebuild
the motor mounts and balencer are getting changed so I didn't really give a damn bout over spray

yep

bubba fails again

bubba428 08-15-2009 03:35 PM

nah...there's none on the springs I sprayed it with the spark plugs in so just the taper is painted. the exhaust ports and the water pump jackets did get over spray but that ain't gonna hurt anything. the mounting surfaces will all be cleaned up with a cookie before anything else is bolted on. its just a cell pic, I'll put up a better one sometime when I have time

LTb1ow 08-15-2009 03:46 PM

You missed the whole center part though? Is that going to be red? For like a two tone job?

bubba428 08-15-2009 04:52 PM

WHAT!!!!!!! you mean the machined surface where the intake manifold mounts? that going to be natural aluminum finish....the timing cover is going to be chrome as well as the valve covers.

LTb1ow 08-15-2009 04:53 PM

Are you going to paint the things on top of the head too?

bubba428 08-15-2009 05:00 PM

i know you aint that dumb

LTb1ow 08-15-2009 05:03 PM

But if you paint them like pink, it would really bring the art work together...

bubba428 08-15-2009 05:20 PM

just for you...i'll paint my rockers pink

LTb1ow 08-15-2009 06:24 PM

Bad!

Gonna make a wavy ass surface... but hell the rest of the engine is coated in overspray.

bubba428 08-15-2009 06:43 PM

no...that doesn't remove metal, just paint and whatever else is on there. i've always used a cookie wheel and never had issues

LTb1ow 08-15-2009 06:50 PM

Ok. You know all.

bubba428 08-15-2009 06:57 PM

you have no idea

BonzoHansen 08-15-2009 07:45 PM

You can use roloc discs on cast iron. And they make them in different grits. So for once I'm gonna agree with him.

LTb1ow 08-15-2009 07:46 PM

Really?

I thought any circular cleaning would create un even surfaces... idk, its not recommended in anything I have read.

BonzoHansen 08-15-2009 07:48 PM

I've never had any issues. You have to be careful, of course. I would not use it on aluminum.

yea, its really hard to not eat up metal on aluminum surfaces. i usually just try to keep it moving fast and use almost zero pressure
