remove buffer swirls from black
whats the best thign to remove buffer swirls from black? i am looking at a car thats black and is a great price, but i would need to get the buffer marks out of it from whoever detailed it

well the dealer is having their head detailer hand buff it/polish it and if i dont like it then i dont need to take the car

I agree with Rich however you can pick up a good glaze and pad to work with it yourself. I wouldn't let swirl marks, especially on a black car, steer me away from buying it. Hell, you get swirl marks on black/dark cars just from washing them enough times between waxes, it's inevitable on dark cars.

Easiest thing to do, DON'T BUY A BLACK CAR IF YOUR FUSSY AND CAN'T STAND SWIRL MARKS. This is going to piss off a lot of BLACK car owners, because they look so BAAAAD when they are cleaned (which generally lasts about 15 minutes after you spend about 4 hours on it). They soak up heat in the summer, look dirty after 1 rainstorm and need to be waxed about every month during the summer to keep them looking really glossy. I had my own detailing business for over 20 years and working in Cadillac dealerships where you had some pretty DEMANDING customers (this was before every Dealer hired non-english speaking people to do the work for $7.00 an hour and used a dirty WOOL buffing pad with compound on everything). The cars looked good until the 1st rain came and then they looked like s**t with swirls all over, and white polish ground into every emblem and rubber molding. Unless you have a professional (like Rich) do the car right, you gets what you paid for. I always loved it when I would ask the customer WHY they bought a Black car and was told "It looked so good in the showroom". Yeah and 1/2 hour after you get it home it will never look that good again.:shock:

ed i didnt buy the car yet or pay anyone anything for detailing. The dealer is repainting the front nose clip due to road chips and also will remove the swirls if i like it then ill probably take it, if i dont then no biggie nothing is lost.

yea i agree... owning a black car... itll only look perfect for like a few days... especially if its a daily driver... you do get more swirls and angle hair scratches everytiem you wash it... its inevitable... something to deal with... i agree with having it buffed properly though... buffing isnt hard once you know what you are doing... if you dont though.. you can really wreck a car.... but to really have a show quality shine and have it 100% swirl free on a black car.... takes LOADS!!!!!!!! of time... time which the dealer isnt going to spend on it... BTW i was a detailer when i was 18 for a dealer... haha... but i knew what i was doing... for the most part! hahha fun job... learned alot...

haha... gotta learn somehow... usually as in my case there are people there that already know what they are doing to show you and help you along... its not like i was handed a buffer back then and said here figure it out.... im still 5 years later learning new ways to buff and perfecting my strategy for it... i have a system of my own to make sure i dont miss any sand scratches and i usually get about 95% of swirl out.... 100% on lighter colored cars.... given the time i can do alot better on dark colors with an orbital... but being insurance companies dont give you time to buff... we do what we can... which is BS thought becuase you can let a car leave with a crap paint job... i.e. dirt, runs, heavy swirl, ... the paint is what you see!
