Fuel delete mod

No fuel = good mpg yes?

Had to take off work for school, so I figured I would relocated fuel lines in my free time.

Gonna need some bondo....

1/2 inch drill bit, and a little work with a dremel... no angle grinder needed...

Tucks away nicely under the wheel well cover. I routed the EVAP line behind the intake, so rest assured my car is green.

WildBillyT 08-18-2009 10:32 AM

Bad idea as it sits. You NEED rubber grommets around those holes.

LTb1ow 08-18-2009 10:34 AM

Yea, I have a rubber hose line around both of them. Not to worried at the moment.

WildBillyT 08-18-2009 10:35 AM

The metal will slice through the hose and the lines. Maybe not too quickly, but it will. Get a grommet, and some black RTV to fill in between the lines to make a good plug.

LTb1ow 08-18-2009 10:41 AM

Ok ok ok, geez, its like your looking out for my safety or something nonsensical like that... ;)

I just ran out of time and wanted to snap some pics for you guys. After the meeting at school I will run to NAPA in my saturn and get a grommet.

Happy? :)

sweetbmxrider 08-18-2009 10:45 AM

LTb1ow 08-18-2009 10:48 AM

Concerned about your safety? Sure.

Trying to avoid the ton of whiny posts about "OMG my fuel line ruptured I hate my car"? Sure.

LTb1ow 08-18-2009 10:56 AM

Eh, if they break, no bigge, hard line starts right there, could upgrade to SS braided lines. :)

sweetbmxrider 08-18-2009 11:16 AM

ss as in faster?

Geez, tough crowd. :-?

BonzoHansen 08-18-2009 01:27 PM

It looks half-ass-ish, no doubt. I thought I saw kits to properly repair lines like that, maybe you can shorten them so they are not so, um, what’s the right term, amateurish? Yes, that will do.

Beware, if it catches fire there will be a motivational poster about you...

Holy Crap! Have you ever heard the saying "like a hot knife through butter"?

LTb1ow 08-18-2009 02:23 PM

Nope.

Blackbirdws6 08-18-2009 02:44 PM

Meh leave it as is, won't hurt a thing. ;) You do have a flame suit right?

Should change the thred title to Idiot delete mod.
“Everyone has a right to be stupid; some people just abuse the privilege.”

LTb1ow 08-18-2009 03:02 PM

Do it up. Darwinism ftw.

sweetbmxrider 08-18-2009 03:39 PM

whats wrong with looping the lines? there is the plastic inner fender there to handle any funny business.

BonzoHansen 08-18-2009 03:49 PM

^^It's half-assed.

How are you protecting them so they don't get a hole rubbed in them?

ib4200 08-18-2009 04:13 PM

why didnt you delete the hood release and put it under there too?
