Mustang + Challenger < Camaro

Delivery (sales) Stats:
Camaro August Deliveries (sales): 8,680

Mustang stats:
August Deliveries: 6,289

Cant find the report, but I read Challenger's numbers at around 1300ish?

Camaro is outsellint Mustang and Challenger combined now. I belive a total of 43k+ Camaros sold, still another 10k orders to process on top of incoming orders.

Edit: Challenger 1132 sold.....

sweetbmxrider 09-02-2009 11:55 AM

how many of each went cash for clunkers?

BigAls87Z28 09-02-2009 12:04 PM

Well, Camaro V6 gets the best gas milage out of all the models across the range, and that only qualifies for a max of 3500 rebate.
The Mustang and Challenger's V6 suck balls in both performance and gas milage. They qualify for nothing.
None of the V8 cars qualify. I dont know if that gave Camaro an advantage...as most cars, even 6cyls, are marked up still making it an expensive car.
But I will say...that if I could have nailed down a 1LT for around the same I got my Malibu.....

98tadriver 09-02-2009 12:33 PM

i have noticed more Camaros on the road

sweetbmxrider 09-02-2009 12:33 PM

no i meant like how many got traded in AS cash 4 clunkers hahaha

NJ346 09-02-2009 01:05 PM

So pretty much in the first 4 months of sales, the new camaro has matched the yearly sales for all of the ls1 f-bodys(~40K units/yr). Yes, sales will slow down, but still, it's pretty funny. Maybe GM is actually doing something right?

NastyEllEssWon 09-02-2009 02:27 PM

yeah why dont you compare that to every mustang sold since 2005

LTb1ow 09-02-2009 02:28 PM

Bet they outsold wienermobile sales.

yeah well according to consumer reports the camaro is the worst value out of the three even tho it offers the best mpg in v6 or v8... but what do we know? or what does the people on camaro5 know who actually drive them everyday and pull off 25mpg with the v8. I also saw someone flaming the new camaro on this same article and someone else said yea its so great thats why the new camaro out sold the mustang since its launch...

Whatever tho, its all a matter of opinion. I want one and as long as i can get one ill be happy.

procamaroz28 09-02-2009 09:03 PM

nice... im still trying to figure out why car and driver likes the stang better..?

12secondv6 09-03-2009 03:48 AM

 Don't worry, gm will screw it up sooner or later.

Challenger is still dead sexy

Savage_Messiah 09-03-2009 03:51 AM

this challenger was sexy 30ish yrs ago when the exact same body was released.

BigAls87Z28 09-03-2009 07:54 AM

I didn't read the CR report so don't know.
Mustangs steering feel and track package seems to be impressing everyone. And it seems that the camaros suspension was set too soft. Lots of understeering with the car around the track. I think they de tuned it first year to see how it will do. The platform is way too good for the soft suspension settings.

According to Consumer Reports the LS1 was such a bad engine it deserved a black circle every year- from 1997 to 2002. It's not exactly a marvel of engineering but 305 (lol)hp and 30mpg without DoD is pretty decent for the time.

JL8Jeff 09-03-2009 09:17 AM

Don't forget, GM had no marketing or advertising going on for the F-body the last 3-4 years of the 4th gen. So sales numbers don't mean much. I still can't believe the current markup on the new Camaro by 90% of the dealers though. The real question is out of the cars that have been built, how many are still sitting on dealer lots because of the markup?

Which proves they're useless.

At Konner Chevy in West Caldwell by where I work there has been an Orange SS sitting on their lot for over a month. Wouldn't be surprised if they inflated the sticker.

BigRocsFirebird 09-03-2009 09:46 AM

the challengers must be popular around me. i know where 7 of them are within 4 miles of my house. i don't see to many camaro's only 3 near my house.

Anti_Rice_Guy 09-03-2009 12:19 PM

I still have seen more Challengers than 2010 Mustangs and Camaros.

ur reading skills are about as good as the lt1...read the last few words of that line. The LS1 had over 300hp + 30mpg without DOD.

Savage_Messiah 09-04-2009 12:59 AM

I love how it's just assumed I'm an LT1 guy if I call out the LS1 fanboys

karr95 09-04-2009 09:53 AM

I just came back from Vegas and there were 2010 Mustangs EVERYWHERE, most with CA plates. I guess they get them first over there. I also read somewhere that the 2011 Mustang V6 will be offered with a better engine (the 3.5 they they put in the Lincoln MKZ) pushing 263hp. Maybe this will help bring down the markup on the Camaro.

BigAls87Z28 09-04-2009 12:02 PM

There is a "leak" of info saying that the 2011 Mustang will get the Lincoln 3.7 V6 making 315hp, and a 5.0 DOHC motor in the GT making 400hp.
They have been saying this for 3 years now. I dont see the 3.7 making 315, nor a 5.0 making 400hp without major increase in price of the car.
