I want a GPS
But I know very little about these devices. I don’t want to spend a million $$, and I don’t want the cheapest. It seems the middle of the road ones run 175-225. One for the car, not built in.
School me. What do i need to know? |
if you can still find a garmin c330 i would get it, ive owned a few other brands and this one has been the most accurate and reliable one i have ever owned and very user friendly
http://garmn.factoryoutletstore.com/...ID=30548752022 it also does truck routes if that is something you would ever need |
yea i find garmin to be reall user-friendly and accurate

I have got a Garmin. It cost me 220 dollars about two years ago. I don't know which model. Suction mount for mounting on my window. Mapzoom.
It all depends on what information you want to get. Mine plots the course, distance to destination, local time arrival, speed, and a monotone female voice. You could also do searches for local businesses and what not instead of inputting an address. It even gives the phone number. I just got it to get me from point A to B. |
In all honesty all the products do the same thing, just more expensive models come with more features. If you are looking to just get from point A to B then they all do that. You really should be looking at the features included and the cost of updating maps every so often from their website.
As for as accuracy... they all pin point the same way, I think the guys here are referring to the actual roads and being pretty up-to-date. The price range you are looking at is around where a generally nice one will be. Honestly there is no reason to go overboard and buy a $400 GPS unless you feel you want things like Live Streaming Traffic & Weather and such. Just look at the features and such on each website about the model. I have a TomTom now and enjoy it very much. It does the job perfectly and mounts solid to the window. I think I paid around $100 bucks for it? JW :D |
id go with the garmin. this is like the one i have, i love it

I have a DNX7120 that has Garmin built into it. The navigation is very reliable and I find it to be a lot better & more user-friendly than the TomTom I was using before it.

Nuvi 200 is what I have. Works fine. No ******** I didn't need. My dad has a 760 I think. Still gets him from A to B the same way mine does.

I bought my mom a Garmin for Christmas last year. Only ran me $100 on newegg
|
I have a garmin streetpilot c550.Got it used for 70 bucks last year from a guy on craigslist.Best money ive ever spent. It has never let me down. The feature I like best is the fact that it says the street names as opposed to just saying turn left or turn right.

the lower level tom tom about 120.00 is one of the best that I've used'it isn't to complicated and does just what you need it to.
The tom tom's seem to be more accurate from my usage as the garmins and a few others tend to take you to random places with no buildings if you select a address from the gps itself for say a place that sounds good to eat haha. |
Get a Garmin with a widescreen. Don't sweat too many options but make sure it has text to speech and you're good to go.

Another vote for Garmin.

We have a Garmin but this is the one I'm buying for myself. Like others said they all pretty much are similar. This one has turn by turn directions with K.I.T.T.'s voice!
