This is interesting..
Found this on autoblog.
http://www.autoblog.com/2009/09/17/v...-modern-malib/ Showed this to my mom who owns the new malibu and she said "i love my malibu" lol |
made me wonder how a 4thgen vs 3rdgen would play out
|
Very interesting. I always thought those old tanks would be better in a crash. Very eye opening and shows how far we have come in 40 years.
|
that's pretty cool but didnt expect it to be that bad. i thought those boats were solid
|
it didnt look that bad but i guess i was wrong...i would still rather drive the bel air than the malibu

Those big cars may "look" safe but they're not. In minor fender benders they'll hold up better but a new car(minor parking lot stuff) but in higher speed stuff the proof is in videos like that. The materials used in those older cars just don't disperse the energy like the new cars. There's A LOT of technology, science and R&D that goes into these cars. It's amazing how you can see the energy being dispersed away from the driver's cabin when those videos are shown in slow motion.

****ing waste of a car right there.

The worst thing about that generation of Impala is that it has an X-frame under it, with no side rails to support it. That's why it crumples up like a pretzel. Full perimeter-frame cars from the '60s-'90's would probably fare better.

yeah it just shows on how safety has improved and all. It is a good looking car going to waste but you never know it could have been a replica. It is sad it just got wrecked but it wasnt my car so i cant complain.
