Ford Taurus SHO

Saw a new 2010 on Rt. 46 east in Parsippany this morning around 8am. It had Michigan manufacturer's plates, so it must have been a test car. I saw it before at the auto show, but with people all around it, you can't really get a good look to really appreciate it. After seeing it today on the road, I can definitely say that car is going to be winner. I'm hoping GM will do something very soon with the Impala, because right now I don't think they can compete with it.

I used to have a 92 SHO, I loved that car. But this new one is rather slow and only available with that tap shift crap.

yeah, 365 horsepower is weaksauce compared to the 220hp of the 92. It isn't really much of a sports car but i wouldn't call it slow

gm NEEDS to use a variation of the G8 to compete with it... the impala is just out of its category

BigAls87Z28 09-22-2009 10:06 AM

You won't see anything out of gm to combat this. IMO I don't see people plunking down 40k+ for this car in the numbers for gm to field a similar cat.
We live to wait till we see what happens with the next gen imp.

LS1Hawk 09-22-2009 11:28 AM

The base Taurus will be the sales leader of course. The base model compared to the SHO looks almost exactly the same, with the exception of some chrome accents, a spoiler and badges. IMO, GM should own this segment (Taurus, Camry, Accord) with the Impala. They need to step up their game and do it soon.

It's got power but it's too heavy. And I could of swore I heard it was going to have a twin turbo V8.

Yeah, that's another thing, it's way too much money. Then again the SHO's of the past were too much also.

Awesome car but way overpriced. I have a feeling that Ford will have another huge seller in this like they do with the Fusion.

The new Taurus makes the Impala look like garbage.

lol its hardly slow. go on youtube, there are people putting down 13.7s in this beast.

some of them are awd, some are fwd...all of them are twin turbo 3.5's.

if you thought your SHO was quick, this one will make you crap in your pants

LTb1ow 09-22-2009 02:02 PM

I think that's only the base Taurus in FWD/AWD.

I think all SHO = AWD, 365 TT 3.5 V6

SHO is awd only.
Fusion sells at alright levels. Like Malibu.

i was recently at a ford dealer, i was lookin at it, i sat in it, very nice car and everything, but the one i was lookin at wasnt fully loaded but the price on the window was $46,995.00, for a motha ****in taurus....wtf?!

Tru2Chevy 09-22-2009 04:44 PM

Base SHO price is $37,995, and there are a pretty large number of options that can drive that price well north of $40k quickly.

25k I belive. Its a nice car, its design is very aggressive like the 300 was, with a highly styled interior.
The SHO is a cool car, but at 40k....its only a shame the G8 wasnt around long enough to put this thing in its place. Had the G8 got the full assortment of options from Holden, it would have been a heck of a car.

CamaroJoe1987 09-22-2009 09:06 PM

hahaha, thanks justin

Agreed 100%. GM's motto shouldn't be Let the Best Car Win. It should be "Shoulda, Coulda, Woulda" lol
