Major radio static/interference...

No idea what is wrong with my stereo...over the last 2 weeks, the radio signal/frequency in my car has gotten to the point where next to NO stations come in at ALL...

now with the exception of 89.5, and 105.5 (im up north), which were occasionally static-y due to weak signal strength.. i never had any issues with my other presets, 101.9, 104.3 and some other major ones..i mean how the hell is 104.3 not coming in??? I've gotten that station in almost new haven connecticut!

nothing has changed to the stereo itself. no one has played with it, attenae is on and tight.

really starting to piss me off. any ideas? need help.

Check the Anttena wire the goes in the back of the radio. Sometimes they like to work themselves loose.

is it the stock stereo?

what czop said...are you getting interference that increases in pitch with RPM also? or just normal static

Antenna wire or road noise, check the antenna wire first if not rewire power and ground wires.

its an alpine head unit thats probably around 5 years old. never had an issue before..it just started recently..the static doesn't increase in pitch with the rpm/acceleration...its just normal static.

ive been working like a dog, but soon as i get a day off im gonna check the antenna wire as u guys suggested. i hope thats it.

Kind of a stretch but did you install HIDs or anything? many HID ballasts interfere with radio stations...
