problem removing rod caps..

IM trying to remove rod caps off a motor right now. Ive never had a problem doing so until this engine. Could it possibly be a bad sign that the cap is so tight? The rod/piston cap is moving up an down, but the cap isnt actually coming off. Could it be because the rod bearing is so worn that theres that much wiggle room? I also notice that there is some lateral movement with the rod on the piston pin. But there isnt any movement going up or down. Could I also have a wear problem with the pins as well or is it normal to have lateral movement there? Any help would be awesome.
